San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Game 3 Preview, Picks & Odds for Friday, May 8, 2026

Game 3 between the San Antonio Spurs (1-1) and Minnesota Timberwolves (1-1) is set for 9:30 p.m. Eastern on Amazon Prime. Donte DiVincenzo remains sidelined, while Ayo Dosunmu is questionable to play after exiting Game 2 early with a heel injury. Bones Hyland will presumably see a bigger role if Dosunmu cannot suit up.

Spurs vs. Timberwolves Betting Analysis

After dropping the opening clash, San Antonio demolished Minnesota by 38 points in Game 2. The Spurs made their triples, forced 22 turnovers, and held Anthony Edwards to 12 points on 13 shots. They adopted an “anybody but Ant” strategy in Game 2 by doubling him in order to make him give up the basketball. It was effective because DiVincenzo and Dosunmu were not there to attack off the catch.

Jaden McDaniels riding the bench did not help, either. He picked up five fouls in 19 minutes and now has 10 total fouls through two games. San Antonio’s guards are crafty and know how to draw contact or manipulate whistles, so McDaniels needs to be more cautious moving forward because Minnesota cannot win this series if he does not play heavy minutes.

Meanwhile, Dylan Harper once again shined off the bench. From a per 36 minutes perspective, the rookie is averaging 18.5 points, six rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 turnovers on 64% true shooting this playoffs. He makes winning plays, hustles defensively, and gives the Spurs a rock-solid ball handler off the bench.

Overall, it was a horrendous performance from the Wolves. And yet, they did their job and stole a game on the road. Minnesota just needs to win one of the next two games to be in a good spot.

The best bet for Game 3 is taking Dylan Harper to record at least 18 points plus rebounds plus assists. He’s thriving inside the arc and has been a crucial piece for San Antonio on the boards and as a passer. Through two games, Harper has produced 23 and 26 PRAs.
