The quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup kick off today, with one matchup on tap for Thursday, July 9th.
The lone game scheduled for Thursday is France vs. Morocco at 4 p.m. ET at Boston Stadium. Les Bleus have lived up to the hype throughout this tournament, establishing themselves as the clear-cut favorites. They’re a great target for goalscorer props, since they’re able to find the back of the net better than anyone else, as highlighted by their 14 goals in five games so far.
Even with one matchup on tap, we can find opportunities for goals here. Below, we’ll dive into some of the top candidates to find the back of the net. Make sure to check out our World Cup match trends page for daily odds, insights, and betting data for each game.

Thursday’s Best 2026 World Cup Goal Scoring Picks
- Kylian Mbappe, France
- Michael Olise, France
Kylian Mbappe, France
France vs. Morocco is a projected low-scoring game, as highlighted by a 2.5 total that is slightly juiced to the Under at -120 odds. Both Teams to Score: No is also listed at -125. With France coming in as reasonably short favorites (-170 on the three-way moneyline), the market is essentially projecting a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Les Bleus.
Morocco is likely to sit back in a low block, looking to quell the French attack and convert on the counter. It’s unlikely that they score more than one goal in regulation in this match, so we’re going to avoid them when choosing goalscorer props, instead focusing on Les Bleus.
Due to the projected low-scoring game environment, we’re able to get Kylian Mbappe to score at a more reasonable price (around -120 odds at the time of this article). This is something that I can’t pass up, as Mbappe has been a scoring machine for France, currently with seven, one behind Lionel Messi in what’s been an epic race for Golden Boot.
Michael Olise, France
When looking for another French attacker to target as a goalscorer vs. Morocco, I preferred to go with more of a longshot. I’ve tried Michael Olise on two other occasions throughout this tournament, but he hasn’t gotten it done for me. You know what they say, “the third time’s the charm.”
The reason why I like Olise is that he’s listed at longer than +200 odds. Even though he’s more of a playmaker, he’s still fully capable of finding the back of the net quite often. Olise scored 15 goals in 32 matches for Bayern Munich this season.
While he hasn’t scored a goal in this World Cup just yet, he’s had a few close calls that could have easily resulted in goals. In a cagey match like this one against Morocco, we’re getting an even better price than usual on Olise, so we’ll ride with one of the most impressive players in the tournament so far.
France has a 1.5-goal total, juiced to the Over at -140, so they’re likely to score 2+ in this match. With that in mind, we’ll go with both Olise and Mbappe.
