Ryan Rollins To Record 6+ Assists, Kyle Kuzma To Score 15+ Points, Trey Murphy III To Score 20+ Points (+195 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
The short-handed Bucks, who may be on the verge of trading Giannis Antetokounmpo, host the Pelicans on Wednesday for an interconference clash. We’ll hone in on a couple of players who should be primary beneficiaries of the expanded opportunities available, as well one of the main cogs in New Orleans’ offensive engine.
We’ll begin with Rollins, who’s serving as the Bucks’ primary ball handler with Kevin Porter Jr. sidelined due to an oblique injury. There appears to be a remote possibility Porter returns Wednesday, but this leg assumes Rollins will be serving as the starting point guard, as has been the case for the last six games. The fourth-year pro has dished out at least seven dimes in four of those contests — including 10 against the Bulls — and the Pelicans are surrendering the fourth-most assists per road game (28.5).
We’ll stick with the Bucks and pivot to Kuzma, who’s clearly been benefitting from Antetokounmpo’s ongoing absence and could also take the floor without Bobby Portis (hip) for the second straight contest Wednesday. Kuzma went off for a co-season-high 31 points against the Bulls on Tuesday, and he’s hit or cleared the 15-point mark on 17 occasions, including in four consecutive contests. Kuzma already went into Tuesday averaging 18.6 points per 36 minutes with Antetokounmpo off the floor, and that figure bumps up slightly to 19.0 when Porter is also on the bench.
We’ll wrap up with Murphy, who’s hit or eclipsed the 20-point mark in 29 of 48 games and has fallen just a point short in four other instances. The talented guard came out of a brief shooting slump Monday against the Hornets, draining 10 of his 20 shot attempts after sinking only 26% of his tries in the prior four games. However, two of those contests came in exceedingly tough matchups against the Spurs and Thunder, and Wednesday’s opponent shouldn’t present anywhere near as stiff a challenge. Milwaukee went into Tuesday’s game against the Bulls surrendering a league-high 29.1 points per contest to point guards in the last 15 contests, further fueling this prop.
Ty Jerome Over Alt. 19.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists, DeMar DeRozan To Score 15+ Points, GG Jackson To Record 6+ Rebounds (+249 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
Note: I originally planned to go with a 3-leg parlay for tonight’s Thunder-Spurs game, but with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander now out and OKC playing with a makeshift starting five, I am pivoting to this game.
A Grizzlies squad that shipped out four players to the Jazz, including Jaren Jackson Jr., Jock Landale, and Vince Williams, takes the floor tonight against the Kings, and we’re utilizing two legs of our parlay to capitalize on the usage vacuum created by those absences.
We’ll start with Jerome, who is the starting point guard again tonight with Ja Morant still sidelined by an elbow injury and potentially on the trade block himself. Jerome didn’t make his season debut until two games ago due to a calf strain, but he showed no signs of rust over his first pair of appearances. Jerome’s minutes are a bit of concern given he was limited to 19 and 20 in his first two games, but he might be in line for a nice boost Wednesday due to how thin Memphis’ roster is at the moment. Jerome averaged 30 points + rebounds + assists over that first pair of contests while shooting an outstanding 54.5%, and he’s facing a Kings team that’s allowed the third-most points (28.8) and assists (9.6) to point guards in the last 15 games.
DeRozan is next up, and banking on him to get to at least the 15-point threshold is a solid way to put together our second leg. DeRozan has reached that milestone in 36 of 51 games, and although part of the sample of 15 contests where he’s fallen short include some perplexing single-digit efforts, the veteran forward seems to have the odds on his side Wednesday. Not only does he have one 23-point tally against Memphis already this season (and one seven-point performance in 15 minutes), but the Grizzlies may be down Santi Aldama again and no longer have Jackson or Landale to help fill in.
We’ll shift back to the Grizzlies side and focus on Jackson, who was already on an upswing and is now expected to operate as the starting power forward. The third-year pro has averaged 5.2 boards across 23.5 minutes in his last six games, and he should be in line for close to 30 minutes Wednesday. The Kings are allowing the ninth-most rebounds per home game (55.0) as well, so if he keeps his same pace of 0.22 rebounds per minute of the last six contests and gets to that 30-minute threshold Wednesday, he projects for 6.6 rebounds.
