2026 John Deere Classic: Top DraftKings Showdown Plays & Live Bets Ahead of Round 3
The 2026 John Deere Classic has reached the halfway point, with TPC Deere Run producing the low scores we’ve all come to expect from this event. Lucas Glover is a surprise leader through the first two rounds, as the 2021 John Deere Classic champion is looking to go wire-to-wire. At 14-under-par, he holds a two-stroke lead over Lee Hodges, with seven players within four strokes of his lead.
Looking ahead, we have new data at our disposal to adjust our approach in DFS formats before Round 3 gets underway on Saturday. Conditions were largely calm on Friday, but there will be a slight uptick in wind on Friday. Ahead, we’ll look to identify the players who have shown they are most due for a Round 3 breakout.
Take a look at some of the best pillar players for the 2026 John Deere Classic DFS contests and live betting opportunities.
DraftKings Showdown Golf Strategy
DraftKings Golf Showdown Golf is a one-round Daily Fantasy format in which players aim to construct the best-scoring one-round lineup while staying within the allotted salary cap. To identify value in Golf Showdown, it’s typically best to focus on buy-low opportunities on players who’ve shown uncharacteristically poor putting in the prior round. There is also an opportunity to find leverage by identifying favorable weather splits and players who are more likely to card birdies-or-better.
Round 3 John Deere Classic Showdown Pillar Plays
As expected, birdies have been easy to come by at TPC Deere Run, as the birdie barrage has continued on from the Travelers Championship last week. TPC Deere Run has a reputation for being a pure birdie fest, but we’ve seen in the opening rounds that these greens are no easy task to hold when playing from out of position. That places a heightened importance on driving accuracy and ball-striking, as the leaders, Lucas Glover, have displayed thus far. Looking ahead, it is going to take a combination of driving accuracy, elite wedge play, and a streaky putter to go low at TPC Deere Run.
Identifying value players who check each of these boxes can provide valuable bonus points in the DraftKings Showdown format. The three players below will be foundational plays in my Round 3 Showdown lineups for these reasons.
Chris Gotterup ($10,700)
As the pre-tournament co-favorite to win, Gotterup has done exactly what he’s been expected to thus far, currently sitting T9 at 8-under-par. Just sic strokes off Glover’s lead, Gotterup will be motivated on moving day to make his trip to the Quad Cities worth his while. The World No. 14 could have just as easily skipped this event for an early trip overseas in advance of his title defense at the Genesis Scottish Open, but. But with prior finishes of T4 and T21 at the John Deere Classic, Gotterup seems to be here because he believes he can win.
Color me convinced of that as well, as his elite ball-striking form has not skipped a beat at TPC Deere Run. He ranks 1st in terms of both SG: OTT and SG: ARG, and has room to gain more on the greens, ranking just 90th in SG: Putting for the tournament. If his putter picks up any momentum on Saturday, he’s positioned well to make a charge up the leaderboard.
Ryo Histatsune ($9,000)
One of the most underrated talents on the PGA Tour this season, Histatsune has climbed his way inside the top-50 in the FedEx Cup standings and is one great finish away from punching his ticket to the playoffs. He can do just that this week, as Hisatsune is currently T4 at 10-under-par. His irons have been sharp all season, and they are what’s carried him to this position, as he ranks 4th in SG: APP for the tournament.
The putter has unfortunately gone cold for Hisatsune over the last several months, and it hasn’t looked much better at TPC Deere Run, where he is 72nd in SG: Putting through two rounds. If we are looking for a reason for optimism, however, no player looked more lost on the greens coming into this week than tournament leader Lucas Glover. So, if any gains are made on the greens on Saturday, Histatsune will be positioned well to make a charge.
Ben Kohles ($7,800)
Kohles looks to be a perfect fit for TPC Deere Run in the midst of what may be the hottest form of his career. He’s finished 1st, T29, T23, and T19 over his last four starts between the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour, and has sustained this stretch of form with elite accuracy with his driver and irons. That is the formula at TPC Deere Run, so it’s no wonder he’s found himself T4 at 10-under-par through the opening two rounds.
Kohles is scoring in a very sustainable way at TPC Deere Run, ranking top-40 across all four strokes gained categories, and 7th in SG: T2G. When he’s on, he is capable of leading the field in SG: APP and Driving Accuracy, so he’ll be a name to watch on moving day if his hot form continues over the weekend.
Live Bets To Consider Entering Round 3
Tournament Matchup: Matt Wallace over Jordan Spieth
Best Available odds: -138
Jordan Spieth was a fade for me entering this tournament, as I felt his course history as a two-time John Deere Classic winner was over-inflated for someone who has chosen to play this tournament just once over the last 11 years. Spieth has managed to limp his way into the weekend by making the cut on the number at 3-under-par, but at 11 strokes off the lead, you have to wonder how motivated he will be over these next two days with the Scottish and British Opens looming.
Wallace, on the other hand, has a very consequential weekend ahead of him, as he is getting close to the FedEx Cup playoff bubble at 86th. He’s also looked like the better player thus far too, ranking 13th in SG: APP. In this matchup, I’m siding with the more motivated player who is in more control of his game.
Top 20 Finisher: Blades Brown
Best Available odds: +122
Blades has already established himself as a bona fide birdie maker with four top-20 finishes over his first seven PGA Tour starts this season. He seems well on his way for yet another high finish, currently sitting T19 at 7-under-par. It was an encouraging second round for Brown, who bounced back from ranking 123rd in SG: APP in round 1, to 39th in the category in round 2. His iron game is his greatest skill, so it’s encouraging to see his approach play trending in the right direction.
As a very young talent at 19 years old, I like Brown in a chasing role where he can play aggressively on moving day. He seems to be in his comfort zone on easier course setups, and he’ll have a great opportunity in front of him this weekend to continue capitalizing on his great current form.
Best of luck with your John Deere Classic DFS lineups and bets!
