2026 World Cup Semifinals Best Prediction Market Trades, Picks & Predictions
The final four nations at the 2026 World Cup are set as the semifinals take shape. Spain and France — the two opening favorites to lift the trophy — open the round on Tuesday afternoon, with the winner awaiting whichever side emerges from Wednesday’s clash between reigning champions, Argentina, and England.
The two European heavyweights face each other in the semifinals of a major tournament for the third consecutive summer, with Spain having eliminated France at Euro 2024 and again in last year’s UEFA Nations League. Tuesday’s semifinal kicks off at 3 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium, with France entering as slight favorites to reach their third straight World Cup Final at the expense of the Euro 2024 winners.
Argentina looks to reach its third consecutive major final, having won the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América over the past four years. They carry the lowest odds of the four remaining sides to defend their title and enter Wednesday’s match as underdogs against England. The Three Lions are back in the World Cup semifinals for the first time since 2018 and will look to reach their first final since their only World Cup triumph in 1966.

Semifinals Best Prediction Market Trades
France vs. Spain – Both Teams to Score in Regulation? Yes (0.60⊄ on Polymarket)
There will be no shortage of goals when these two European giants meet on Tuesday afternoon. After a slow start against Cape Verde, Spain has hit their stride in attack, averaging 2.2 goals per game across the five following matches. They now face one of the most dangerous attacks in the world and the second-highest-scoring team in the competition.
France has scored multiple goals in five of their six matches and is averaging 2.7 per game. Led by Golden Boot favorite Kylian Mbappé, Les Bleus have generated the second-highest xG in the tournament (11.7) and average more shots on target per game (7.8) than any other squad. These two sides have seen both teams score in three consecutive meetings, including a nine-goal thriller in their most recent meeting at the UEFA Nations League semifinals last year.
France vs. Spain – Will the Game Go to Extra Time? Yes (0.31⊄ on Polymarket)
It is difficult to predict that two sides of this quality will need an extra 30 minutes after regulation, but the conditions are there for it on Tuesday. France and Spain know each other extremely well and will be careful not to overexpose themselves to each other’s attacking threats. Spain has had the best defense in the tournament, conceding their first goal only in the quarterfinals, while France has tightened up defensively in the knockout rounds after conceding twice in the group stage.
With both sides approaching the game tactically, a draw after 90 minutes is a genuine possibility. Spain’s last two matches have required late winners from Mikel Merino to avoid extra time, and given the defensive quality on both sides, another tight contest feels inevitable. Look for this one to go the distance, giving football fans an additional 30 minutes of elite competition.
England vs. Argentina – Lionel Messi Anytime Goal Scorer? Yes (+143 on FanDuel Predicts)
Messi has added yet another chapter to his remarkable legacy at the 2026 World Cup. The 39-year-old has already broken the all-time record for World Cup goals and is locked in a photo-finish race with Mbappé for the Golden Boot, both sitting on eight goals. Messi failed to score for the first time in the competition in the quarterfinals, but remains one of the tournament’s most dangerous individuals.
Argentina’s captain leads all players with 5.5 shots per game, 3.0 of which are on target. The Inter Miami star has created the most big chances of anyone in the competition (7) and now faces an England side that has conceded four goals across three knockout matches. Argentina’s quality gives Messi the space he needs to create for himself and others, and it is hard to look past one of the all-time greats given the form he carries into the semifinals.
England vs. Argentina – England to Advance (-123 on FanDuel Predicts)
England has a chance to reach the World Cup final for the first time in 60 years, but must first eliminate the reigning world champions to get there. The Three Lions have shown tremendous resilience in their victories throughout the tournament and enter Wednesday as slight favorites over Argentina, currently tied with Spain for the second-shortest odds to lift the trophy.
Tuchel’s side has ground out multiple gritty wins, most recently a 2-1 victory over Norway. 23-year-old superstar Jude Bellingham is leading the way in the knockout rounds, scoring four of England’s five goals across the Round of 16 and quarterfinals combined. Taking down Argentina will not be easy, but the South Americans have shown vulnerabilities on the counter that England is well equipped to exploit. Look for Tuchel’s squad to end Messi’s legendary run on Wednesday afternoon in another tightly contested match.
