Alberta Online Casinos, Sports Betting Now Live
There are now two Canadian provinces with a regulated iGaming industry after Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks launched Monday at midnight.
More than 50 brands were approved in time to go live on Monday, though not every operator plans to launch right away. Regulators hope the licensed Alberta online casino and sportsbook markets will bring bettors back from offshore operators.
One operator, Betano, received the green light on Friday as the last operator approved before the launch.

Betano joins multitude of Alberta online casinos
Betano was one of the big heavy hitters that was missing from the list of approved platforms.
The international gaming operator plans to launch both sports betting and online casino in Alberta.
Betano is a recognized partner of the FIFA World Cup, and by its count offers betting on 44 different sports around the world.
Other operator updates in Alberta
One well-known and expected brand is still missing from the list is LeoVegas.
The Sweden-based site is another major player that had pledged to come into the Alberta market, and had been taking pre-registration from potential customers in the province. But it recently suspended that pre-registration process.
While the Swedish giant is still on the sidelines, it is worth keeping an eye out for two Edmonton-area casinos that are taking their brands to the iGaming world. The River Cree Resort and Casino was greenlighted to have its own casino and sportsbook app, but it won’t be ready for launch this week. Expect to see that later in the year.
Pure Casino Entertainment’s site is expected to be up and running on deadline day. Located on the south side of Edmonton, Pure Casino is one of the largest physical gambling spaces in Alberta. It promises its iGaming platform will be “Alberta’s premier regulated online casino.”
Pure Casino recently announced it was partnering with B2B sports betting tech supplier Kambi for its online and retail sportsbooks.
