Kenny Pickett Player Prop Picks
I was pretty high on Kenny Pickett entering his second season, but he fell flat in Week 1 against the 49ers. Pickett threw two interceptions and ranked 22nd on the week with a poor PFF passing grade of 53.4. Not much went right, and now his reliable WR1 Diontae Johnson is out this week.
The matchup doesn’t get any easier for Pickett this week – Cleveland held Joe Burrow to a laughably low 45.2% completion rate and 2.6 yards per attempt last week. Can Pickett bounce back despite the challenging matchup?
I’m working off Caesars Sportsbook for this article, but be sure to use the player prop search tool above to make sure you’re getting the best price on any prop you select. Let’s take a look at some Kenny Pickett player props.
Kenny Pickett Over/Under 199.5 Passing Yards
Despite the awful matchup last week and poor performance overall, Pickett still got to 232 passing yards. However, Pickett was held to 195 passing yards in his lone game against the Browns last year. The injury to Johnson and poor play calling by Matt Canada make Pickett’s life tougher.
The issue for the Steelers this week is that they aren’t really going to be able to run the ball. The Browns worked hard to overhaul their run defense over the offseason, and it showed early as they ranked first in the league in run stop win rate per ESPN. Pittsburgh could fall behind here, increasing their passing, and Pickett should do enough to hit the over.
The Verdict: lean over 199.5 passing yards
Kenny Pickett Over/Under 12.5 Rushing Yards
Kenny Pickett isn’t known as a true dual threat quarterback, but he might be running for his life in this game. The Browns will be putting constant pressure on him with their exotic blitz packages and the elite talents of Myles Garrett and Za’Darius Smith, perhaps the best edge rushing duo in the NFL.
Pickett went over this number in nine of his 14 games last season, good for a 64.3% hit rate. He missed in the game last year against Cleveland, though, which is worth noting. Still, the Browns’ pressure will force Pickett out of the pocket and he could pick up 13 yards on just one scramble at some point in the game.
The Verdict: lean over 12.5 rushing yards
Kenny Pickett Over/Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns
This one is really juiced, and it makes sense. You need to pay -264 juice on Caesars right now to take the under on this prop, which makes sense as Pickett still has yet to have a multi-touchdown game in his career. Against Cleveland last year, he did have one touchdown strike, but the low over/under and tough matchup suggest getting to two here will be difficult.
I can’t advise paying -264 juice on a player prop, but I also wouldn’t take the over here given all of the factors discussed above. This one is a pure pass for me.
The Verdict: pass
