After an idle night Thursday, the NBA Playoffs rev back up Friday night with a pair of Game 6s in either conference. Both the Pistons and Timberwolves are trying to force Game 7 clashes, so there should be no shortage of minutes and production from some of the front-line players on each squad.

Cade Cunningham (DET) – Over Points + Assists

We pegged Cunningham for a bounce-back effort at home Wednesday and he delivered, even as the Pistons surprisingly fell to the Cavaliers on overtime. The star guard turned in a remarkable performance, finishing with 48 points + assists across seven rebounds and two steals over 48 minutes. That represented a major resurgence from the 19 points, three rebounds, six assists and one steal he’d posted in Game 4 over 39 minutes. Cunningham was averaging 37.9 points + assists — along with 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals — in his first 10 postseason tilts before the downturn in production, so banking on him rising to the occasion in Game 5 was relatively easy to get on board with.

The same principle applies in Game 6 despite the fact Detroit is now forced to stave off elimination in enemy territory. Cunningham has now compiled double-digit assists on four occasions against Cleveland since the start of the regular season, including three times in this series, and the Cavs are allowing a robust 13.7 made threes per contest since the start of the campaign. With everything on the line for the Pistons and his line remaining steady, this is a viable prop to go back to.

Original Line Publish: 35.5

Jarrett Allen (CLE) – Over Points + Rebounds

Allen’s production has fluctuated to a degree during the series, which isn’t unexpected given the tough matchup typically presented by Jalen Duren down low. Allen naturally spends the majority of his time in the paint, yet he’s still contributing 19.2 points + rebounds across 29.8 minutes in the first five games of the series. He’s managed that figure despite a pair of single-digit scoring tallies, including a two-point, three-rebound tally in Game 1.

Allen has done a good job of avoiding foul trouble over the last three games, drawing the ref’s whistle just once apiece in those contests after being charged with nine fouls in the first two contests. Allen is also converting 62.1% of his 14.0 rebounding chances per game in the series, and he’s also averaging a solid 9.0 points in the paint per game during the entirety of the postseason. Allen is 3-1 to the Over on the 19.5 line in the last four games and 5-2 in the last seven postseason contests overall, furthering his case in a potential series-clinching game.

Original Line Publish: 19.5

Anthony Edwards (MIN) – Over Points + Rebounds

Edwards has had an interesting series, struggling with his knee injury in Games 1-2 before coming alive with elite performances in Games 3 and 4. The star guard the produced something that can be described as somewhere in the middle for Game 5 on Wednesday, furnishing just 22 points + rebounds while seeing a notable drop in offensive usage. While he’d averaged 34.0 points on 24.0 field-goal attempts in Games 3-4, Edwards put up 13 shots in Game 5 despite playing 39 minutes.

However, like Cunningham with the Pistons, Edwards is going to be looked to by his team to lead their quest to avoid elimination. Therefore, we should see plenty of shot attempts and an active rebounding presence from Edwards, who’s converting 57.1% of his 9.8 rebounding chances per game during the current series. Edwards also had 32- and 55-point tallies against San Antonio in the regular season, so a prolific effort in these high-stakes circumstances wouldn’t suprise.
