Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys Matchup Preview (10/3/2021)
The unbeaten Carolina Panthers will be facing their toughest challenge this season so far playing against the Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium this Sunday. The Carolina Panthers are off to a red hot start and have started the season with a 3-0 record, a feat which they have not been able to accomplish since 2015. The last time Carolina was 3-0, the Panthers went on to have a 15-1 season in route of playing in Super Bowl 50. Sam Darnold will be looking to keep the Panthers unbeaten streak going but will be facing a promising contender in the Dallas Cowboys without their star running back Christian McCaffrey. The Dallas Cowboys had a resounding victory against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night and will likely keep their momentum going after establishing their run game and steering away from any concerns about their defensive problems. This Sunday’s afternoon matchup will be a great indicator to see how both teams will pan out for the remainder of the season.
Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Odds
Carolina heads into Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys as underdog. The Carolina Panthers will be missing their most explosive player in Christian McCaffrey (Hamstring) and will likely need a big showing out of their defense, being #1 in the NFL in defensive DVOA per Football Outsiders. With Sam Darnold playing well and DJ Moore establishing himself as one of the top wide receivers in the league so far, it will be interesting to see how the team fairs without McCaffrey.
Dak Prescott played lights out on Monday Night in his first home game at AT&T Stadium since his season-ending injury last year. The Cowboys QB1 threw the ball 26 times on Monday night, completing 21 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Dallas was able to establish their run game early on with a monstrous performance by the duo backfield in Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard. The tandem combined for 155 yards rushing and two touchdowns while averaging 5.55 yards per carry respectively. The Cowboys are the heavy favorites heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers and I have a hard time seeing a reason to bet against them.
My predictions: Dallas Cowboys win 27-24, Cowboys , o50.5

Carolina Panthers Analysis
Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers have been given new light with Sam Darnold leading the team as the new QB1. After acquiring the former Jets quarterback in the offseason, Darnold has quickly proven that he was not the problem in New York and has successfully lead his new squad to a 3-0 start. Sam Darnold so far has thrown for three touchdowns and 888 yards while only forfeiting an interception against the New Orleans Saints in a game they would go on to win 26-7. DJ Moore has been electric this season hauling in a total of 285 yards in three games. The Panthers will be without Christian McCaffery, a big loss, but should be looking to get the ball to DJ Moore as much as they can on Sunday. Backup RB Chuba Hubbard will be getting his first career start against the Cowboys and showed a lot of promise after coming in for McCaffrey against the Houston Texans after the injury. Chuba rushed 11 times for 52 yards while tallying on three receptions for 27 yards on 5 targets. The Panthers will be tested this week against the Cowboys and it will be interesting to see how the team will manage without their best offensive weapon.

Dallas Cowboys Analysis
The 2021-2022 NFL season may finally be the year that Cowboys can be considered a top contender. Dak Prescott is back and seems happy to be the main man for the Cowboys organization. Monday night’s performance against the Eagles was a true indicator of this as Dak was tearing up on the sideline as the national anthem was being played. The Quarterback would go on to finish with a 136.4 passer rating with his top two receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb combining for less than 100 yards. Dak Prescott has options this year and a big showing from Tight End Dalton Shultz showed NFL defenses that the Cowboys have a ton of offensive threats this season. Besides the passing game, Dallas’s run game was unstoppable last week and will be the toughest challenge for the Panthers defense this season.

Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys Daily Fantasy Picks
DJ Moore is a must start this weekend and should be in everyone’s starting lineup at WR1 or WR2. Moore is currently ranked 10th in POS ranking for wide receivers and is averaging 19.3 fantasy points per game this season. The WR notched 8 catches for 126 yards on 12 targets last week and should produce similar numbers with Darnold likely airing it out more with McCaffrey sidelined. An interesting pick for someone looking to fill in their FLEX slot would be Chuba Hubbard. The running back showed promise against the Houston Texans and will likely be receiving a lot more carries than last week.
The Cowboys have a ton of players on offense that can fit in nicely with anyone’s fantasy lineup. The Panthers are currently the best defense in the NFL but have not played a team with the offensive caliber that the Cowboys possess. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the Cowboys. Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb were quiet against the Eagles last week but I expect them to both produce more against an injured Carolina secondary. Ezekiel Elliott proved to doubters that he still got it and will be a good option for the RB1 or RB2 position this week.
