Dallas Cowboys vs. Kansas City Chiefs Matchup Preview (11/21/21)
As we enter week 11 of the 2021 NFL season, we turn our attention to the early conference leaders. On November 21, 2021, at 4:25 EST, the NFC East front-runners, the Dallas Cowboys, take on the AFC West leaders, the Kansas City Chiefs, at Arrowhead Stadium. Last week, the Cowboys bounced back from a tough loss by the Denver Broncos to crush the Atlanta Falcons. Cowboys fans were worried about this match-up with their top receiver, CeeDee Lamb, being questionable, but Coach McCarthy signals that he should be ready for Sunday’s kickoff. However, Amari Cooper is out due to Covid-19. The Chiefs are looking to continue their three-game win streak with another home win. The previous AFC Champions have not been their strongest selves this year, but maybe a win against one of the best league offenses will put them back on track for a top playoff placement.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Odds
As the two leaders in their conference, this match-up is expected to be electrifying. On most accounts, everyone believes this is going to be an incredibly close game. The spread is projected to place the Cowboys (+2.5) and the Chiefs (-2.5). The money line is pretty meek as well, with the Cowboys standing at (+115) and the Chiefs (-140). It’s also critical to acknowledge that the Chiefs are 0-5 against the spread at home games. The Cowboys have also been 8-1 against the spread over the past nine weeks. Since this game is projected to be remarkably close, this may not be the best game to place your bets on.
I would suspect the Cowboys to pull out a win, and it could result in fair compensation, but I fear it is not a favorite to place a bet. I believe Dak Prescott will make powerful connections with his stacked list of receivers and trump the Chiefs’ defense, outscoring them on extensive drives. The Chiefs’ secondary doesn’t seem capable of stopping Lamb, Gallup, and Cooper efficiently enough. It also seems unlikely for the Chiefs’ offensive line to wake up and be efficient enough to protect their quarterback sufficiently. However, I believe Tyreek Hill will connect with Patrick Mahomes to make significant plays to keep the game close. Hopefully, Mahomes will be given the time to allow for Hill to create separation and dust the defense for the chance at powerful yardage.
My Predictions: Cowboys win 30-27

Dallas Cowboys Analysis
The Cowboys have shown remarkable improvement in gameplay within the past year. However, many have questioned the performance in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos. Yes, they may have redeemed themselves by blowing out the Atlanta Falcons the next week, but was the Broncos game a fluke or proof that the Cowboys can fall due to underestimating a team and solid defensive pressure? The Cowboys receivers need to focus on finishing a catch on the way down in order to complete the play and gain the necessary yardage.
With their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, back to health, it appears that the Cowboys have one of the most dominant offenses in the league. Dak has over 2,300 passing yards on the season but has been sacked eight times.
Trevon Diggs has proven himself to be one of the best corners in the league. He has a total of 8 interceptions and 24 solo tackles this season. Diggs has the potential to steal the show yet again with his athleticism and ability to intercept the ball; however, most of his interceptions are off of tips from the defense instead of reading the ball. If Diggs wants to have another stellar performance, he needs to stay patient because if he jumps ahead of a ball, Tyreek will be leaving him in the dust.
Cowboys’ top receiver, Ceedee Lamb, has been noted as Questionable all week due to an arm injury, which would significantly affect the passing performance of the team. Lamb has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with after putting up over 720 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Coach McCarthy stated Lamb should be healthy enough to return for Sunday’s game, but I worry he may be wary and not receive the ball as often as usual. The Cowboys might look at returning Michael Gallup in replacement of a limited Lamb and absent Cooper. Gallup made his first appearance last week since opening week due to a calf injury. Gallup and Lamb will put immense pressure on the Chief’s secondary, while Ezekiel Elliott will preoccupy the line.

Kansas City Chiefs Analysis
The 2020 Super Bowl champions have not been playing up to their expectations this 2021 season. As they prepared for one of their biggest games of the season, many wonder if the Chiefs can pick apart the unpredictability of the Cowboys’ defense. The Chiefs have struggled against top defensive teams such as the Buffalo Bills, the Tennessee Titans, and the New York Giants. The Chiefs would have to take advantage of the quickness of their top receiver, Tyreek Hill, and keep their play calls unpredictable. Trevon Diggs has the advanced agility it takes to guard Hill and will lead to a great match-up. Hill and Mahomes will have to connect on air-tight receptions in order to burn the cornerback and gain necessary yardage.
Travis Kelce will have to be on his peak receiving game and blocking game to make his team successful. Last week against the Raiders, he helped keep one of the best pass rushers, Maxx Crosby, at bay.
Patrick Mahomes has not been on his most Super Bowl MVP self this season. His offensive line continues to be weak, leaving Mahomes scrambling and sometimes on the turf. They need to hope their offensive line can protect Mahomes, who has been sacked 17 times this year, from the aggressive Cowboys defense with 18 sacks on the season.
The Chiefs are going to have to create an air-tight game plan for their secondary defense to defend against the returning receiver Michael Gallop and top receiver Ceedee Lamb.
One of the best assets the Chiefs possess is their fan base. The stadium holds the Guinness World record for loudest fan base by hitting 142.2 decibels. The noise has been known to shake opponents’ focus, as we saw in Week 1 with Jamie Gillan’s botched punt.
The Chiefs need to be firing on all cylinders to effectively battle the explosive Dallas Cowboys to prove they are still a championship team.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Kansas City Chiefs Daily Fantasy Picks
Some of the top fantasy players are collectively on both of these teams. Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. In this match-up, Mahomes is projected at 22.2, while Prescott is given 21.9. Both players are significant assets to a successful fantasy team, so that either player will bring in large points. Tyreek Hill might be a golden egg due to his projected 21.6 points for a receiver. Over the past couple of years, he has been proving himself to be a fantasy goldmine, and I do not see him stopping anytime soon. Lamb, Kelce, and Gallup come in at projections from 14.5 to 17.3, and Lamb’s injury shouldn’t be a huge concern but keep an eye on it.
