New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints Matchup Preview (10/3/21)

The New York Giants will be coming to The Caesars Superdome this Sunday to take on Jameis Winston and the New Orleans Saints in a head-to-head matchup starting at 10:00 am pacific time. The Giants (0-3) will be looking to tally their first victory of the 2021-2022 NFL season against the 4th ranked Saints defense. The Giants currently rank 29th in offense out of the 32 teams so Sunday’s matchup will be a huge test for Daniel Jones and his crew.

New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints Betting Odds

The New York Giants are currently the heavy underdogs heading into Sunday’s matchup with their odds being approximately +8 around most betting sites. With last Sunday’s lackluster performance against the Atlanta Falcons, The New York Giants chances of winning this game against a very good Saints defense are slim. The New Orleans Saints made light work on their matchup against rookie quarterback Mac Jones, winning their game 28-13. Jameis Winston has been holding his own as the Saints offense looks to be performing well despite Michael Thomas out of the lineup, which causes lots of concern for Giant’s bettors.

My Predictions: New Orleans Saints win 35-17, o43.5

New York Giants Analysis

The 2021-2022 NFL season may be Daniel Jones’ last run as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants. The New York quarterback is off to a winless start to the season throwing only two touchdowns in three appearances. The Giants have struggled to create offensive power in their three games thus far and a subpar offensive line has made it difficult for running back Saquon Barkley to find his rhythm since coming back from his season ending ACL injury last season. Wide Receivers Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard are questionable to start next Sunday so the Giants running game will look to be heavily relied on this weekend. Saquon Barkley rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown against the falcons last week and will be facing a much tougher defense against the Saints, who rank in the top 5 of defenses in the NFL. The Giants will be looking for a spark in their former second overall pick this week. When healthy, Saquon is a difference maker, and with their passing game not expected to improve against this high caliber defense, The Giants run game could be heavily relied on in this matchup. Expect Saquon to get more looks and touches as he enters his fourth week since coming back.

New Orleans Saints Analysis

The Saints season began with a vicious victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers seeing Jameis Winston throw for 5 touchdowns in a 38-3 blowout win. Week 2 did not live up to the hype as The Saints lost to the Carolina Panthers in a bout that saw only 111 passing yards along with two interceptions from their QB1. Week 3’s performance against the New England Patriots gave us similar results in the passing game as Winston threw for only 128 yards. However, the QB was able to tally on two touchdowns with zero turnovers while Alvin Kamara took control of the game from the ground. The Saints running back touched the ball a total of 27 times, 24 being rushing attempts. Kamara was able to rush for 89 yards while catching three passes for 29 yards and a touchdown. Facing one of the more lackluster defenses in the NFL this week, Alvin Kamara and the Saints offense should be able to produce a highly efficient running game as well as tack on more passing yards than the previous two weeks.

New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints Daily Fantasy Picks

Saquon Barkley should be in everyone’s lineup who currently owns the player in fantasy. Although the running back will be facing a touch defense this Sunday, you can expect the young playmaker to receive a fair share of rushing attempts as well as many passing targets through small screens. Saquon tallied 21.4 points in Fantasy this week and will be a great add on for your lineup at the RB2 or FLEX position this Sunday. The Saints currently rank third in the league in rushing yards allowed but Saquon is the type of player to make something out of nothing and should be able to put up a fair number of points if given the touches he deserves.

Alvin Kamara is an absolute must start at RB1 this weekend in his matchup against the Giants who rank thirteenth in rushing yards allowed. Alvin Kamara had 24 rushing attempts last week against the Patriots and anytime a running back receives that many touches, you can expect that there will be a fair number of rushing yards and potential touchdowns scored. The running back currently is ranked 11th in his POS rank on Fantasy and is averaging 15.3 points a game. I expect the Saints to be visiting the redzone a lot this week, so I would highly recommend having Alvin Kamara in your lineup.
