Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Matchup Preview (11/28/21)
In Week 12 of the NFL season, the 5-6 Philadelphia Eagles head to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, to take on the 3-7 New York Giants in an NFC East showdown. On Sunday, November 28th, the game will take off at 12:00 PM EST. The matchup will be an exciting one, being their first time meeting this season. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are on a two-game win streak following an explosive performance by the second-year QB against the New Orleans Saints. The Giants are coming off a significant loss from the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Following the loss, the Giants fired their offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett, which will raise questions on their organizational play entering this week.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Betting Odds
The Philadelphia Eagles are taking on the New York Giants for the 176th time since their first matchup in 1933. The Eagles led the series 88-86-2, and I project they may be adding another win under their belt this Sunday. I’m not the only one who believes so. The DraftKings spread places the Eagles -3, and the Giants are placed with +3. The money line is set at Eagles -155, and the Giants are given +150. DraftKings even ranks the over/under at 46.5. Any safe bet would be to route for the projected winners. Some prefer to choose the underdog. However, I would not recommend trying to place a risky bet on this game. I firmly believe the Eagles will outscore and put up explosive plays against the trembling New York Giants.
Collectively, it is believed the Eagles will take home a victory once again. The Eagles have a more accurate and agile quarterback, but the Giants have a higher-ranked defense. With a winning streak from the Saints and Broncos, the Eagles will enter week 12 with momentum and confidence. The Giants do not have the same luck, and I feel like the losing record might weigh heavily on the team, defeating the already low spirit of the team.
My projections: 24-13 Eagles win.

Philadelphia Eagles Analysis
The Philadelphia Eagles have shown grave improvement in gameplay over the course of 12 weeks. At the start of the season, the team named the second-year NFL player, Jalen Hurts, as their starting quarterback, and he has not disappointed. The 2020 Heisman runner-up, Hurts is averaging 230.6 passing yards per game while also keeping defensive lines on their toes due to his rush ability. Last week, he had a great quarterback rush juking out the Saints’ defense for a huge play resulting in a touchdown. Hurts made Eagles history against the Saints by being the first quarterback in team history to have three rushing touchdowns in a game. He is projected to have an impressive game against a struggling Giants defense. Hurts will use his unpredictability to his advantage to create explosive plays against the NFC East opponents.
Devonta Smith made headlines in January of this year for becoming the first wide receiver to win the Heisman since Desmond Howard 30 years ago. Smith has been a massive target for Hurts this year with 74 targets. He hasn’t been disappointing with his 46 receptions averaging 14.4 yards a reception. The rookie has excellent potential to be the powerhouse behind the Eagles’ offense. The Eagles will be looking to use Smith as much as possible for mid-range passes and will hopefully make successful plays to put up points.
The Eagles have been blessed, unlike many other teams, by having minimal injuries this year. The offensive has avoided the plague of injuries that has swept big teams throughout the weeks. The only noted injury the team is facing is their left cornerback, Darius Slay Jr, is questionable. Slay Jr has two interceptions this season and has proven to be one of the impressive players on the Eagles’ defense. If he remains absent this week, it will put a dent in the defensive pressure.

New York Giants Analysis
The New York Giants have had yet again another disappointing start to their season. They currently have a record of 3-6 and are placed last in the NFC East. Last Monday, they took a rugged, yet expected, loss to the Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During the game, quarterback Daniel Jones threw two interceptions and only threw for 167 yards. Over the season, Jones has thrown nine picks and has been sacked 21 times. He is only averaging around 220 passing yards per game, which leaves all Giants fans and fantasy owners disappointed.
Following the 30-10 loss against the Buccaneers, the Giants decided to fire their offensive coordinator Jason Garrett after only spending a season and a half with the team. This change in staff begs the question of whether a personnel change will create a positive impact on the team mid-season. The play calls of the Giants have been questionable over the season. On Monday, the team decided to run a quick passing play on 4th & 2 against the powerful blitz defense of the Bucs. To no surprise, the Bucs were able to hold the play to turn over on downs. I questioned why the team would not place the ball in the trusting hands of their top running back Saquon Barkley to make a large 4th down conversion.
Saquon Barkley made his return after a five-game absence due to an ankle injury he sustained earlier in the season. Because of his injury, Barkley has not obtained the stats projected at the beginning of the season. He only has two touchdowns and 220 yards on the season. Since his return, he has had a less than stellar performance against the Bucs. He only had 25 total rushing yards and 31 receiving yards. Hopefully, next week with a new offensive coordinator, Barkley will be able to push for more yards against the Eagles’ defense.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Daily Fantasy Picks
Since Kyler Murray’s injury, Jalen Hurts has obtained the #1 quarterback position rank on ESPN’s fantasy app. I’ve had him as my starter, and he has not disappointed. After last week, Hurts put up 30.78 points and has an average of 22.5 on the season. Going into week 12, Hurts is projected 22.2 points, and I believe he has the opportunity to boom past that number against a shaky Giants team.
Saquon Barkley had a disappointing fantasy performance last week, only putting up 11.6 points. For this week, he is projected 16.2. Barkley has the potential to have a more explosive game after feeling more comfortable after his return. He might be expected to have more targets with a new coordinator, and the team will want to keep the ball secure.
