The Eagles are expected to be back in the playoff hunt again this season, and are slight front runners for the division. They get a home matchup against Washington, which is a good game for them to start off hot. Health is crucial for the Eagles, as Carson Wentz has had some major injuries the last few seasons. With no Nick Foles behind him, his health is as important as ever. The Eagles dedicated their draft to the offensive side, creating a bit of a headache for fantasy owners. Washington has made it easy on us, not having a reliable passing attack to target. They have a tough task against the Eagles defense, and Case Keenum continues to draw starts. Washington Redskins Analysis

Washington RedskinsThe Redskins are a team rebuilding, and have been for some time. The keys haven’t been turned over to Dwayne Haskins, and we will see Case Keenum under center. The pass-catching options are starting to move into newer names, as Josh Doctson was let go. Terry McLaurin is someone the organization has big plans for, and is a name to watch in Week 1. Philly’s pass defense showed some holes last season, and we didn’t see any turnover within the secondary. On the road in a tough environment is going to be tough sledding for this group of playmakers. Jordan Reed is expected to play, and the same goes for Paul Richardson after an injury plagued offseason.

Despite Adrian Peterson still ranking first on the depth chart, Derrius Guice is expected to take a major step forward this year. Everything points to him getting a noteworthy amount of touches. The Redskins still plan on working in Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson, but the optimal pairing would be Thompson and Guice moving forward. We saw the Redskins offense last season try to grind it out with a strong defense. That worked up until Alex Smith got injured. If the Washington defense can perform again, expect a similar style of offense.

Washington Redskins Depth Chart

QB: Case Keenum
RB1: Adrian Peterson
RB2: Derrius Guice
WR1: Terry Mclaurin
WR2: Paul Richardson
WR3: Trey Quinn
TE: Jordan Reed

Philadelphia Eagles Analysis

Philadelphia EaglesCarson Wentz played 11 games last season, and tossed over 3,000 yards and had 21 touchdowns. When healthy, Wentz has shown the ability to lead this offense and put up big numbers in the process. He has all the tools to do it, as the Eagles have a strong running game, and multiple weapons within the passing game. The Eagles added Miles Sanders and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who are expected to big important players within the offense year one. The big question is how the committee will shakeup. They traded for Jordan Howard, who is expected to share time with Sanders. Given they have other receiving backs, this could be an extremely tricky situation for fantasy.

Philly had a strong rush defense last season, ranking 9th. They were 15th against the pass, but struggled against the teams that were above average throwing the ball. They were able to get Washington and New York four times alongside some other weaker offenses, so it didn’t show completely. While the Washington passing offense isn’t strong, any sort of holes shown again in the secondary will be a concern moving forward.

QB: Carson Wentz
RB1: Miles Sanders
RB2: Jordan Howard
WR1: Alshon Jeffery
WR2: DeSean Jackson
WR3: Nelson Agholor
TE: Zach Ertz

Betting Pick: Eagles -10.0

The Eagles are the far more talented team, and come into this week as double digit favorites. No surprise that the the Lineups Bet Predictor has the Eagles with a 76% win probability. The over is also favored there, by about a FG too. The Eagles were 5-3 ATS last season at home, and 2-0 when the spread was in this range. The Redskins covered at a 3-2 record with this spread range. Philly is on par with Seattle as some of the bigger favorites on the week, and their implied total of 27.2 points is also a hefty number to target for fantasy purposes.

Daily Fantasy: Eagles Score Big, But Individuals Are Tough To Narrow

Philadelphia is in a great spot at home this week, but because of all the options, that production is going to be spread out. The backfield committee makes it tough to use, and overall there will be far better and more predictable backfields to go with instead. Washington was also middle of the road in fantasy points allowed to running backs. They were middle of the road in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, but allowed 22.2 fantasy points per game. Wentz has averaged 22.4 points per game in his career against the Redskins, tossing nine touchdowns in five games. If Alshon Jeffery sits out due to injury, this puts targets more in line for the active players. However it sounds like he will play. All the weapons are going to be tournament targets, and in cash games I will avoid. I would rather use Wentz solo in cash if you want exposure to the Eagles. You should be able to get some leverage for those who just avoid this team due to the likely volatility.
