DraftKings NFL DFS Value GPP Picks Week 1
GPP games are guaranteed prize pools. These competitions are tournaments, multipliers, and millionaire makers that have a set payout regardless of # of entries. Your team not only has to be good, but you want to pick unique players that will give you an advantage over the competition. I will list some of my favorite GPP values of the week for both high cost and low-cost players as well as my QB/WR stack of the week. Use this to help shape your DraftKings team and get those high scoring sleepers that can go crazy and win you those top 10% placings in the money.
Contents
High-Cost Value:
Josh Jacobs ($6,800) is taking on the Carolina Panthers who gave up the 4th most rushing yards last year. While they did add Derrick Brown, a beast of a DT, to their lineup in the draft the team should still struggle to contain the run. Jacobs was amazing on the ground averaging 4.8 yards per carry and should be over 5 in this game against the Panthers. Jacobs is one of the few true bell cow backs in the league and Gruden made it a point to get him more receiving work. One of the cheaper RB1 options I have Jacobs as a must-play.
George Kittle ($7,200) has the TE point machine matchup from last year in Arizona. Arizona will be better with the addition of Justin Simmions at ILB; however, one player will not take this team from 32nd to top half in TE defense. Not to mention that Deebo Samuel is out and Brandin Aiyuk is limited in practice. This team wants to run the ball, but against a fast-paced high-power offense in Arizona they will have to throw and Kittle will be the #1 target. You will win the TE matchup playing Kittle, and could easily have a top 12 WR on your hand in the TE spot.
Low-Cost WR:
DaSean Jackson ($4,200) This play against the weak Washington secondary could be chalked; however, Jalen Regor looks on pace to play and this may scare a good portion of players from starting Jackson in their lineup. DO NOT LET IT SCARE YOU. In the one game Jackson played last year he destroyed Washington for 38.4 points and looked great. Jackson and Wentz is a great combo even with a healthy WR core. At $4,200 when you have a solid chance at a top 5 WR you need to take it, chalk or not. Jackson is a must-play with a hurt WR core, a weak Washington defense, and a cheap price tag.
Diontae Johnson ($4,200) a Monday night player for your 15 game slate games that will win you the week. Diontae Johnson is the #1 WR in Pittsburgh even with JuJu there. His analytics from last year with separation per route and route success was off the charts. He now finally gets to play with Ben Roethlisberger and go up against an atrocious Giants defense. At $4,200 I am taking Big Ben’s starting X receiver every week regardless of competition, but you get the bonus of an easy matchup. Johnson is a sleeper that will not be heavily owned and this is the kind of play that can make you big money.
Low-Cost RB:
Antonio Gibson ($4,000) While he is playing against a tough Philadelphia run defense Gibson could be the play of the week. I think that a lot of players will be scared off of him and pivot to other cheap RBs or pay-up for sure things. However, with the comments that Adrian Peterson made about this offense and how they want to use the incredibly talented Gibson, he is well worth the shot. It sounds very much like he will be the lead back and receive tons of receiving and rushing work. At $4,000 he has a great base to allow you to pay up for other high scorers, but Gibson has the ability and opportunity to be an RB1 on the week. His explosiveness in both facets of the game could give you massive point totals at a ridiculous price.
Zach Moss ($4,400) If Singletary fumbles even once in this game you will have yourself the play of the week as Singletary will not see the field again. Buffalo’s coaching staff has made it clear that they are worried about Singletary’s fumbling issue and with the draft capital spent on Moss and the rave reviews in camp they are looking for any excuse to play him more. However, even without that, this game is going to be a blowout and the Bills will run it down New York’s throats. Moss will get plenty of opportunities and is almost guaranteed the receiving work. Another cheap option that seemingly has the base so that you can spend big on others but comes with the upside of possible Rb1/2 numbers given the right circumstance.
Affordable Stack of the Week:
Gardner Minshew ($5,800) and DJ Chark ($6,300) This game very well could be a Colts blowout and that is fine by me. Garbage time Minshew and Chark will give you more than enough points to help you on your week. However, even in a competitive game, the Colts’ one weakness on defense is their secondary, and DJ Chark is one of the best deep threats in the league. Minshew will look to Chark over and over in the game and I fully expect Chark to deliver like he had all of last year. The running game in Jacksonville is currently a joke, and they may end up having 40-50 passes this game which could allow Chark to get into the middle or high teens in targets. This is a swing for the fences stack and at a very nice cost.
