New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Matchup Preview (10/10/21)
An NFC East divisional matchup is going down this Sunday. The 1-3 New York Giants will be traveling to Arlington, Texas to face the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys. The Giants are coming off a 27-21 overtime win against the New Orleans Saints while the Cowboys are coming off a 36-28 win against the Carolina Panthers. Giants quarterback Daniel Jones threw the ball all around the field ending with 402 passing yards and two touchdowns. Giants running back Saquon Barkley also rushed for a touchdown. On the other side, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw for only 188 passing yards but threw four touchdowns. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot had a dominant game with 143 rushing yards and one touchdown. I expect this to be a pretty lop-sided game.
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Odds
One of these teams has a very well-rounded offense with strong receivers and a great running back. One of these teams does not. The Dallas Cowboys have a top offense in the NFL. QB Dak Prescott is having a great season, RB Ezekiel Elliot is running for an efficient 5.3 yards per carry, and wide receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb have 42 combined receptions through four games. On the other hand, the New York Giants have an inconsistent quarterback in Daniel Jones, a good but not great running back in Saquon Barkley, and mediocre wide receivers in Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, and Darius Slayton. The only wild card this week is that there are a lot of injuries for both teams. If the Giants get healthy and the Cowboys stay injured, this could be a close game. If not, the Cowboys will win by a lot.
My Predictions: Cowboys 28, Giants 17, Comboys Cover, Under 52 Points

New York Giants Analysis
The New York Giants have had a tough season. They started the year 0-3 and suffered two very close losses against Washington and the Falcons. Their quarterback, Daniel Jones has not been terrible this year; He just has been quiet. He has thrown for a good chunk of passing yards (1,184), but he has also only thrown four touchdowns. He showed some good mobility early on running for two touchdowns in the first two games of the season, but he has not rushed for one since. He will have a tough matchup this week against a strong Cowboys defense and, he may be without his top three receivers. He should pray that they get healthy if he wants to even put up a fight. He should also trust his legs more and rush more often.
The Giants may have to play this week without their three starting receivers. Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay, and Darius Slayton are all listed as questionable. I imagine at least one of them will play this Sunday, but all need to be healthy against this tough Cowboys defense. They can all be efficient if their quarterback is throwing the ball as well as he was last week.
In case you thought the wide receivers were the only injured players, think again. Giants running back Saquon Barkley is currently also listed as questionable. Barkley has not been the force that we saw in past seasons, but he can still be a tough player to tackle. He had 52 yards and one rushing touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. Barkley showed that he can still be dominant in the second half of that game when he scored a touchdown and rushed for most of his yards. He needs to be healthy and have another big game against the Cowboys.
The Giants have a bottom-ten defense in the NFL. They currently give up 382 yards per game and allow opposing offenses to score almost 24 points a game. They only created one turnover last week and are going to need to create a couple against this strong Cowboys offense.

Dallas Cowboys Analysis
The Dallas Cowboys have come out swinging this year. They are 3-1 and look like actual contenders for the first time in many seasons. I know many of us like to dislike the Cowboys for being “America’s Team”, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Their three wins are in large part due to their quarterback, Dak Prescott. Prescott has 1,066 passing yards and has thrown for ten touchdowns with only two interceptions. His matchup this week against the Giants is one of his easier ones, so all he has to do is avoid throwing interceptions and find the open man.
The Cowboys wide receiver core of Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Cedrick Wilson may be one of the best in the NFL. Cedrick Wilson is the underdog of this group. He is their third wide receiver and has caught two touchdowns this year. Of course, Cooper and lamb are going to be more impactful. They have a combined 522 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Cooper may not play this week, but even without him, Lamb and Wilson will step up with the help of tight end Dalton Schultz.
Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot is having another dominant year. He has 342 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He may not play this week, which would leave a big hole at running back. His backup, Tony Pollard, is good, but he cannot bring the same dominance as Elliot. If Elliot is healthy this week, the Cowboys will be in fine shape. If he is not, the Giants will have a little bit more of a chance.
This Cowboys has been surprisingly good this year. Even in the absence of defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, the Cowboys have limited opposing offenses scoring. They allow a lot of yards per play (6.4) but create a ton of turnovers. Through four weeks they have eight interceptions. Cornerback Trevon Diggs leads the league with five of those interceptions. This defense needs to continue creating turnovers.

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Daily Fantasy Picks
Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz has been having a really productive season. He has 201 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He plays on a team full of stars, so some might say he is being overshadowed. I would agree with that sentiment. I expect him to score a touchdown against the Giants this week and recommend picking him up for DFS.
