Top Pitchers
Trevor Bauer ($11,100) vs Tigers– We saw Trevor Bauer struggle to start the season but he has started to pick it up and continues to strike out a lot of batters. He is the 2nd highest priced pitcher tonight behind Chris Sale and will be going up against a Tigers team that he is coming off of a complete game shutout against. While it is unlikely that this will happen again, given Bauer’s tools I have no issues paying this price knowing he will go deep into the game and rack up the K numbers in a big way.
Aaron Nola ($8,000) vs Marlins– Nola has really taken a step back after an amazing season last year. He hasn’t been able to go deep into games consistently but he has at times put together some really good fantasy performances. He will be going up against a Marlins lineups that could be confused with a AAA lineup tonight so getting Nola at a $8,000 price, which is the lowest he has been all year, feels like a great value price.
Top Hitters
Freddie Freeman ($4,900) vs Nationals– Freddie Freeman has been on a tear as of late for the Braves with a hit in 12 of his last 14 games and he has recorded at least 1 RBI in each of his last 8 games. To get a guy who can hit for average and power at a sub $5,000 price is amazing to me. Also he will be going up against Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg tonight, a pitcher who Freeman is hitting .340 off of in 60 career plate appearances. Freeman is a no brainer for me tonight.
Francisco Lindor ($4,600) vs Tigers– Lindor is a do it all player who provides power and speed near the top of the Indians lineup. He has a hit in 7 of his last 9 games and has a good matchup tonight vs Tigers SP Matthew Boyd. He is hitting .409 with 2 2Bs and 2 HRs against Boyd in 22 career ABs. Lindor’s price has dropped a bit so I will gladly take him at only $4,600.
Jake Bauers ($3,500) vs Tigers– As you can tell I really like the Indians tonight against the Tigers on both the offensive and defensive end. Bauers offers position versatility with 1B and OF eligibility and he has been hitting the ball well. He is 11 for his last 28 and looks to have really turned this around with his bat. Going after some big named pitchers and bats means you have to find some value and Bauers is one of those guys for me.
Martin Maldonado ($2,700) vs Twins– Lastly, I am on board with Royals C Martin Maldonado who has been producing very well for the Royals offense. He is dirt cheap tonight at only $2,700 at he comes into tonight’s game with 5 RBI’s in his last 4 starts with 6 hits which is really valuable for a catcher especially at this price. He has good history vs Twins SP Martin Perez hitting .583 with 12 career ABs so we also have that to look forward to. I see no risk with this pick and lots of upside because he is price so low.
