Top Pitchers
Jacob deGrom ($11,800) vs White Sox– We are paying a steep price here but it is worth it. deGrom has been on fire only allowing 1 ER in his last 3 starts combined and his K number have been superb as well with 25 in his last 19 innings. He will be up against a White Sox lineup that was just diced by Thor last night and deGrom is the better pitcher in my opinion. I’m looking for deGrom to put up 30+ FPTS tonight on the road.
Kyle Hendricks ($9,000) vs Cardinals– Hendricks has stayed consistent and is probably one of the most consistent arms in all of tonight’s slate. He has allowed 2 ER in 4 of his last 5 starts and the 1 start he didn’t he threw 5 shutout innings vs the Brewers. He has also struck out 5 batters in the last 3 games and is averaging 5 Ks in 5 games. We know what we are getting here and in his last start vs the Cardinals he was superb only allowing 1 ER in 7 innings and the start before that vs them was a 9 inning shutout. The consistency paired with the success vs the Cardinals is why I am comfortable paying $9,000 for him tonight on the road.
Top Hitters
Avisail Garcia ($4,200) vs Red Sox– Garcia has been a solid bat in the middle of the Rays lineup for most of this season and he is coming off of a game last night where he went 2/5 with a homer and 3 RBIs. Garcia has also seen the ball very well against tonight’s Red Sox SP Rick Porcello, .407 with 2 HRs in 27 career ABs. Garcia won’t “wow” you with any particular tools but he gets on base and tonight he will love hitting against this pitcher.
Ji-Man Choi ($4,000) vs Red Sox– Another Rays hitter that has seen some success vs Rick Porcello is Ji-Man Choi, who is hitting .385 with 1 2B, 1 3B, and 1 HR vs the righty in 13 career ABs. Choi was off last night but is also coming off of a game where he hit well going 3/5 with 2 R 1 HR and 2 RBIs. Choi has gotten on base in 7 of his last 8 games and against a struggling pitcher vs Porcello I don’t see that slowing down tonight.
Brandon Crawford ($3,400) vs Phillies– Crawford doesn’t have the hits to show for it but he has been a good high floor option with his OBP coming up big in many spots. Crawford has reached base in 9 of his last 11 games and in a lot of those games he hasn’t even recorded a hit. He has a .286 average vs tonight’s Phillies starter and if you are going to roster some big named arms these are the guys we are going to have to take a chance on to save some salary.
Kyle Seager ($3,400) vs Rangers–Seager’s stats as a whole this year haven’t been good but it looks like he is starting to turn it around with his bat. Coming into tonight’s game he owns a 8 game hitting streak and during the streak he has hit 3 HRs with 7 RBIs. He doesn’t see lefties well which is why I think his price is a little lower than usual for a guy on this streak but when he is this locked in I am willing to take a chance on him against a struggling Mike Minor and a Rangers bullpen that traded one of their better arms recently.
