Quarterbacks
There are plenty of options to work with at quarterback this week. With the lenient pricing, you can easily spend up and still get a great lineup. If you are going cheap it is more to be contrarian. Russell Wilson remains to be the best option and the Seahawks have a 30 implied total. Dallas has allowed 255 passing yards per game so far and 1.84 passing touchdowns. On the flip side of this game, Dak Prescott has had to play catch up for most of the two games, but his rushing touchdown and passing upside makes him a top-three play for this slate. Kyler Murray is up in price now, but maybe not high enough. Detroit has allowed 2.4 passing touchdowns per game so far this season and this secondary is definitely one to target.
If you want to pay down a little bit, Cam Newton is a great play. He has averaged 24.2 FD points per game through two games and gets a Raiders secondary that has allowed 280 passing yards per game. Newton also has that rushing upside. If you want to go a bit cheaper then that, Ryan Tannehill and Matthew Stafford are the plays I would look at. Minnesota’s secondary is going through a rough transition, while Stafford will get Kenny Golladay back this week.
Running Backs
Running back is a pretty straight forward position this week and FanDuel makes it easy with some of the pricing. I am going to start with a trio of my favorite options based on matchup + price. Miles Sanders at $7,400 is a great price tag for the matchup against the Bengals, who are already following last season by giving up 164 rushing yards per game and 2.1 touchdowns per game to backs. Sanders saw a heavy workload in his return from injury. Jonathan Taylor is at $6,700, and the Colts certainly used him as a bell-cow back last week. The Jets defense is an easy target after all the losses this offseason. Indy has a 27.5 implied total and is 11 point favorites. You can go back to the well here. The other is Kenyan Drake at $6,500. The volume has been solid and the fantasy production hasn’t been there yet. This is the week with the Lions defense allowing 157.2 rushing yards per game and 29.8 FD points already.
There really isn’t much of a need to go cheaper at running back because most of the wide receivers are underpriced as well. If you want to take some ownership pivots, James Conner at $7,100 is worth a look against Houston who has been ripped apart by the run through two games. Derrick Henry is a great guy to go back to after high ownership in Week 2 and leaving a sour taste in everybody’s mouth. It is a great spot for him as well. The other is Austin Ekeler, as both him and Joshua Kelley have seen strong volume and the Panthers are allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. This is no different from last season.
Wide Receivers
Like last week there are a few games that just have a ton of receiving options in it. The first is the Seattle-Dallas game. The Seahawks get to feast on a weak Dallas defense and both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett haven’t even made the $7,000 mark yet. Metcalf is a guy I plan to have a ton of this week and will be overweight when it comes to making multiple lineups. On the other side of this game, Amari Cooper is only $7,000 and Seattle has allowed 37 FD points per game to opposing wide receivers. Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb are both cheap options to consider as well.
DeAndre Hopkins and Kenny Golladay are the two wideouts from the Arizona game I have interest in. Golladay carries some risk, of course, coming off the hamstring injury but it is a good spot and I expect him to go back to seeing monster targets. Hopkins has seen big volume despite there being plenty of mouths to feed in Arizona. Murray has leaned on him heavily and this is a good spot against Detroit.
Some of my favorite one-off options this week are Allen Robinson against the Atlanta secondary, who have allowed 28.4 FD points per game to opposing wideouts this season. Terry McLaurin is in a good spot as well against the Browns and remains the only viable wideout for Washington. Odell Beckham is a sneaky play this week and will be lower owned as well.
Tight Ends
There are not a lot of tight ends this week worth using and the top-end options are either not on the slate or are carrying a questionable tag. George Kittle and Darren Waller are both questionable for the game. Jonnu Smith is as well. Smith is the only name I have my eye on out of the three, otherwise, I am going elsewhere. Tyler Higbee is coming off a big week and the Bills just got shredded by Mike Gesicki. The names I like the most are TJ Hockenson in a high scoring affair against Arizona and then Noah Fant against Tampa. Fant is in the midst of his breakout and will be a lead guy with Courtland Sutton out for the year. The other name is Hayden Hurst who gets the Bears. They have funneled down a lot of receptions to tight ends dating back to last season.
Defense
Indianapolis is an easy defense to call out this week going up against the Jets. They have the lowest implied total of the weekend and the Colts proved last week they can provide some upside at the position. Pittsburgh is right around that range as well, and get Houston. While the Texans have a lot of name-value their offensive line has struggled and the wideouts are unreliable to stay healthy. I don’t expect a lot of production from the Texans. If you want to go with some value options, the Buccaneers are only $3,900 and the Browns are $3,900. Both have plenty of upside for the price. Tampa gets a Denver team who lost a few weapons last week while the Browns get a weak Washington offensive line.
