Top Pitchers
Framber Valdez ($8,300) vs Rays- Valdez took a loss in game 1 of this series but he continued his streak of 2 ER or less in 5 straight starts. He struggled with walks in game 1 but he was still able to strike out 8 Rays batters and overall pitched pretty well. I like Valdez to put up another 20+ FPTS performance in a must win game for the Astros this afternoon in San Diego.
Dustin May ($7,200) vs Braves- Dustin May hasn’t started a game in this year’s playoffs but he has been dominant out of the bullpen for the Dodgers. He has only allowed 1 hit in 3.2 innings and has overmatched opposing batters. I wouldn’t expect him to go more than 5 innings in this game but in a pitchers park like Globe Life Field I think he should be able to have success. He doesn’t strike out a lot of guys but he allows a lot of soft contact and I think that will play vs the Braves tonight.
Top Hitters
Jose Altuve ($4,900) vs Rays- Altuve has had a lot of problems in the field, but he has been excellent at the plate in the postseason. In the last 10 games he is hitting .368 with a .478 OBP along with 5 home runs. He has also scored 19+ FPTS in 2 of his last 3 games heading into this contest. I also expect offense to pick up in all the games in the LCS due to the bullpens being taxed with so many games in a row. Altuve is just hitting the ball too well right now to pass up.
Will Smith ($4,700) vs Braves- Will Smith hasn’t had the most success as of late but when he is in the lineup he hits the ball hard. He has gotten very unlucky in this series but he is one of those guys you would describe as “close”. His price is a bit high in this spot but I believe we could still get some value because of his tendency to get big hits when the ball falls. Roster Will Smith with confidence tonight.
Dansby Swanson ($4,000) vs Dodgers- Dansby bat has come alive a bit during the playoffs especially as of late. He has 5 double digit FPTS games in the last 7 games, including 2 of the last 3. He had a big double in last night’s game and I think he will be able to carry that success into tonight’s game. He will have a tough matchup vs Dustin May to open up the game but the Dodgers bullpen has been gettable and that is where I believe Dansby will do his damage in this game.
Chris Taylor ($3,800) vs Braves- Chris Taylor doesn’t do anything “special” but he always seems to come up in big spots and this is a must win game. He wasn’t in the lineup last night but if he is today I would take a shot with him in your lineup. Despite his struggles in the last 10 games he still has a respectable OBP and has scored each time he has a hit. There is risk here but with only 2 games it’s one you are going to have to take.
