Top Pitchers
Julio Teheran ($9,500) vs Mets– Julio Teheran has arguably been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball over the past month or so. He has pitched in 8 straight games allowing less than 1 ER and although the competition hasn’t been strong he is still limiting the amount of hits he has given up. He is getting older so the K’s aren’t there but against this Mets team that has struggled on offense at times I think we should be able to get a solid fantasy outing out of Teheran. At this price I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t want him on you staff tonight.
Merrill Kelly ($8,000) vs Rockies– Another pitcher who has been doing very well and flying under the radar is Diamondbacks SP Merrill Kelly. In his last 3 starts Kelly owns a 0.81 ERA with 3 wins 18 Ks and only 2 walks. He will go against a tough Rockies lineup on paper but away from Coors field they haven’t hit the ball as well. He has shown the ability to induce a lot of weak contact and during these 3 starts he has only allowed hitters to bat for an average of .156. I’m looking for Kelly to extend his 20+ FPTS per start streak tonight at home.

Mike Trout ($5,600) vs Blue Jays– We already know that Mike Trout is one of the best hitters in all of baseball. He comes into this one off of two excellent games amassing 6 hits with 4 R 2 HR and 5 RBI’s and should see some more pitches with Justin Upton returning to the Angels lineup. He has also performed well vs Toronto SP Marcus Stroman, .500 average in 17 career PAs. Trout’s price is a bit hefty tonight but given the circumstances I am willing the bite the bullet.
Nelson Cruz ($4,900) vs Red Sox– Nelson Cruz has had a very solid year for the Twins thus far and still offers a power threat at the DH position. He has 6 HRs in his last 11 games and will be going up against a familiar face tonight in the form of Red Sox SP David Price. He is hitting .318 against Price with 4 HRs in 44 ABs in his career. Considering the upside the Cruz has in this spot I like him as one of my OFs.
Kevin Newman ($4,500) vs Tigers– Kevin Newman doesn’t produce a lot of runs in the Pirates lineup but he sure does get on base and rack up a good amount of hits. Coming into tonight’s game he has scored at least 5 FPTS in 9 of his last 10 games and has turned himself into a nice high floor daily fantasy asset. Today’s Tigers SP Daniel Norris hasn’t been the best at limiting the hits allowing at least 6 in each of his last 7 starts so I think Newman will be able to take advantage tonight.
Albert Pujols ($3,800) vs Blue Jays– Pujols is slowing down a bit with his age and he isn’t playing every day, make sure to check the lineup, but in certain spots he has been good for the Angels. He has an RBI in his last 3 starts coming into tonight and like Mike Trout he has had some success against Marcus Stroman. In 13 career PAs he is hitting .455 with 4 1B and only 1 SO. Pujols is very cheap tonight so if you want to roster some high profile guys like Trout you are going to have to sacrifice in some other areas and I feel like of all the sub $4,000 guys Pujols offers some of the best value in this spot.
