Top Pitchers
David Price ($9,300) vs Blue Jays– After a tough start vs the Rangers, David Price has bounced back over the last two starts posting a 2.45 ERA. He also struck out 9 batters in his last start which is a welcoming sign for fantasy owners. He will be up against the Blue Jays tonight, a team who he threw 5 scoreless against in their last meeting. Price should be able to thrive here vs a below average lineup and at this price I think he is worth a shot tonight.
Tanner Roark ($8,500) vs Brewers– Roark continues to be one of the most consistent fantasy options, he won’t blow anybody away but he tends to go somewhat deep into games and limit the damage. He has only allowed 4 ERs total in his last 3 starts and only allowed 1 ER with 7 Ks in his last meeting with the Brewers. The Reds have been playing some good baseball and with the floor on Roark so high, in my opinion, I think his $8,500 price gives you more flexibility with the bats in this slate.
Top Hitters
Francisco Lindor ($4,600) vs Royals– Lindor has continues to be solid with the bat hitting around .300 on the year and around there in the last week of game action. He will have a big opportunity tonight vs Royals SP Jakob Junis who Lindor is hitting, .526 with 3 HRs and 3 2Bs against in 20 career PAs. That type of history is something you can’t look past especially with a hitter of this caliber like Lindor. I think we are getting a steal for Lindor at this price.
Nick Castellanos ($4,100) vs White Sox– Castellanos has been pretty mediocre this year if we are being honest but it looks like he is starting to get his bat going. He comes into tonight’s contest with at least 1 hit in 13 of his last 14 games. He hasn’t produced a lot in a weak Tigers lineup but when you are racking up hits like he is now you can look past that. He is hitting .370 in 27 career ABs vs tonight’s White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez and he has been struggling on the mound lately so I will be taking a shot with Castellanos tonight.
Jose Abreu ($4,000) vs Tigers– Abreu comes into tonight’s game with 3 multi-hit games in his last 4 starts and has 1 HR with 5 RBI’s in that span. He will be up against Tigers SP Matthew Boyd tonight who has hit some bumps with 13 ERs allowed in his last 3 starts. In his career vs Matthew Boyd Abreu is hitting .500 with 2 HRs in 24 career ABs. Like Lindor those #’s are superb. Getting a guy who has 60 RBI’s on the season with this kind of history vs a pitcher at only $4,000 is a no brainer pick for me tonight.
Maikel Franco ($3,800) vs Braves– Franco was in a terrible slump up until about a week ago, he now has a 7 game hit streak going with 7 R 3 HR and 8 RBI’s. His price has fallen so low due to his struggles I think it is finally time we start to take advantage of this little streak he is on. He will be up against Braves SP Dallas Keuchel tonight who has allowed 8 hits in his only two starts this season and has been unable to get 6 innings of work in. Knowing that there will be a lot of opportunities for Franco I think if you are looking at sub $4,000 players there is not better option than Maikel in this slate.
