Top Pitchers
Robbie Ray ($11,400) vs Orioles– Robbie Ray has been excellent for fantasy owners lately as he now has gone 5 out of 6 games with 7+ K’s and has gone 6 or beyond in those starts as well. He has also scored 19.3+ FPTS in each of his last 3 games. Because of this his price is sky high tonight but looking at the slate of pitchers I think this is one of those nights you are going to have to pay if you want production out of your 2 pitchers. Ray will be up against a below average Orioles team tonight and lots of teams have been inquiring about a possible trade so I expect to Ray to be sharp tonight at home.
Eduardo Rodriguez ($10,900) vs Rays– Rodriguez, like Ray, has been really sharp as of late and his price has continued to rise after each start. He hasn’t scored less than 18 FPTS in his last 3 starts and is 5-0 in his last 7 appearances. Rodriguez has been up and down with his strikeouts but when he is limiting the damage he can still be a valuable commodity. He wasn’t his sharpest in his last start vs the Rays but he did record 7 Ks which is a good sign. He is just pitching too well right now not to have him on my roster.
Top Hitters
Mike Yastrzemski ($4,300) vs Cubs– Mike Yastrzemski is a relatively unknown player but he has been hitting the ball very well for a Giants team that has been surging as of late. Yastrzemski comes into this game with 12 hits in his last 8 games including 7 R 3 HR and 8 RBIs. He will be up against Cubs SP Alec Mills who will be making his 2nd start of the season and history shows that hitters can get to guys in this situation. He may not be the biggest name but the stats he has put up speak for themselves.
Lorenzo Cain ($3,900) vs Reds– Cain has had a pretty disappointing season thus far but he still has the tools to put up great games in certain spots. Tonight I think is one of those nights. He is going up against Reds SP Sonny Gray who Cain is hitting .500 against in 19 career PAs. Gray has pitched well but getting Cain at a sub $4,000 price with this kind of history makes him worth a shot in my opinion.
Kolten Wong ($3,500) vs Pirates– Kolten Wong has been swinging the bat pretty well for the Cardinals, .360 in his last 25 ABs. He doesn’t do much in terms of producing but when he is getting on base at a high rate like this his price of $3,500 feels like a steal. He is hitting .455 in 13 career PAs vs tonight’s Pirates SP Trevor Williams who has really struggled since returning from injury. Williams has allowed 24 ERs and no less than 8 hits in each of his last 4 hits so I believe Wong can make a big impact tonight.
Marwin Gonzalez ($3,500) vs Yankees– Gonzalez has been getting things done with the bat, at least 1 hit in 7 of his last 8 starts. The Twins lineup is potent and Marwin has shown he can do some things against tonight’s Yankees SP CC Sabathia. In 11 career ABs vs Sabathia he is hitting .364 with 1 HR and 1 2B. Marwin also has some position flexibility so if you are look for a solid bat that has a high floor I think Gonzalez is worth a long look.
