Top Pitchers
Dinelson Lamet ($8,400) vs Mets– Lamet has only 3 starts this season in his return from Tommy John surgery but he has shown some signs that he can be a good middle tier daily fantasy option. He tends to strikeout a lot of hitters and he is coming off his best start where he only allowed 1 ER but he did only last 4 innings. Especially with his injury I wouldn’t expect him to go more than 6 innings in a start but against a mediocre Mets lineup tonight I think he can rack up 6+ K’s and limit the damage which would make him valuable at this price point.
Reynaldo Lopez ($7,000) vs Marlins– Reynaldo Lopez has gotten things going on the mound posting a 1.38 ERA in his last two starts with 15 Ks in 13 innings. Lopez has gotten on these hot streaks in the past and I think we could be getting on one today. He will be up against a pretty bad Marlins lineup tonight and at this price I can’t think of a reason not to take a chance on a big K guy like Lopez against a lineup like this.
Top Hitters
Edwin Encarnacion ($4,900) vs Twins– Despite his poor average Edwin Encarnacion has started to rack up the hits lately in the middle of a potent Yankees lineup. He comes into tonight’s game with multiple hits in 3 of his last 4 games and has amassed 8 RBI’s in his last 5 games overall. In this lineup he is always a threat to produce so during this little hot streak I have no issues rostering Encarnacion with his .224 batting average.
Jorge Soler ($4,500) vs Braves– Soler has quietly had an excellent year in Kansas City hitting .250 with 27 home runs and 71 RBI’s. He has 7 RBI’s in his last 6 games and is always a threat with his power. He has also been getting on base at an elite rate, 18 straight games, so even though his price has gone up in recent weeks I think he still has a lot of value here.
Paul Goldschmidt ($4,300) vs Pirates– Goldy hasn’t been himself over the last year or so but he could be finding a groove with 2 HRs and 6 RBI’s in his last two games coming into tonight. He hasn’t hit for average like we’ve seen but things have turned around recently with his production and he holds some more value now. Goldy has also had his way with struggling Pirates SP Jordan Lyles hitting .476 with 6 BBs against him in 28 career PAs. With that kind of history and with the way he is playing I am comfortable riding with Goldschmidt tonight.
Jason Kipnis ($3,300) vs Blue Jays– Kipnis always seems to find his way on this list because he is always priced fairly and over stretches this season he has been a really good hitter. Coming into tonight’s game he has a hit in 8 of his last 9 games and although he doesn’t do much with power or production he can still hit and get you some points which is what you need with some guys in this price range. He has seen Stroman before, .267 in 15 ABs, so I think he should be able to get at least 1 hit tonight.
