Top Pitchers
Masahiro Tanaka ($9,500) vs Rays– Tanaka had a rough outing in London but prior to that he had bene pretty solid on the mound. He will be going up against a Rays team that he threw a 2 hit shutout against with 10 Ks in their last meeting. This time around they will be without Brandon Lowe, who is one of the Rays best hitters at the top of the lineup, so Tanaka could be in line for another great start. A lot of the top pitching talent tonight hasn’t been at the top of their game so going down a little and getting Tanaka is a good option in my opinion.
Antonio Senzatela ($5,000) vs Diamondbacks– Senzatela comes in at a dirt cheap price of $5,000 tonight against the Diamondbacks. In his last start on the road vs Arizona he did well only allowing 1 ER in 6.2 innings. His ERA is almost 5 this season but away from Coors Field he has been much better posting a 3.92 ERA in 8 starts this year. Other than 1 blowup road start Senzatela has only allowed more than 3 ERs in his last 7 road starts. Getting him at this price is a steal especially given his road success.
Top Hitters
Trevor Story ($5,400) vs Diamondbacks– Story recently came off the IL so will be looking to get into his groove and I think that can come tonight vs the Diamondbacks. In his career vs Arizona SP Zack Greinke he is hitting .302 with 5 HRs and 2 2Bs in 43 career ABs. In Greinke’s last start he struggled vs the Rockies as well giving up 11 hits and 5 ER across 7 innings pitched. Story is too good of a hitter to not take advantage of this matchup tonight.
Starling Marte ($4,900) vs Brewers– Marte’s bat is starting to get hot at the right time for a surging Pirates team. He comes into tonight’s game with at least a hit in 7 of his last 8 games and has had multiple hits in 3 of those. Like Story, Marte has had great success vs tonight’s opposing starting pitcher Zach Davies. He is hitting .435 with 2 2Bs in 23 career ABs vs the right handed pitcher. Davies hasn’t been going deep into games either and allowing no less than 6 hits in each of his last 6 starts this season. Marte at under $5,000 with his speed is good enough for me.
Renato Nunez ($4,100) vs Blue Jays– Nunez has been playing some good baseball for the Orioles as he eclipsed 20 HRs and 50 RBIs in their last contest. He comes into this game with 6 hits and 5 R 3 HR and 7 RBI in his last 4 games. For a guy producing this much the price is very reasonable especially vs Aaron Sanchez who has allowed 5+ runs in each of his last 5 starts this season. Look for a solid game from Nunez tonight.
Miguel Rojas ($3,700) vs Braves– Rojas has done nothing but hit for the Marlins this year hitting at almost .300 with a .350+ OBP. He has one of the highest floors for a player at this price and coming into tonight he has a hit in 9 of his last 10 games including 6 multi-hit games. He almost owns a .500 average in the last 7 days and will be going up against Julio Teheran who has given up quite a bit of hits in his last couple starts. Look for Rojas to continue to do what he does best, which is rack up hits and get on base.
