Top Pitchers
Chris Archer ($8,200) vs Angels– Despite his struggles, Chris Archer has put together two games in a row of solid baseball. He only allowed 2 ER with 9 Ks in his last start and 1 ER with 6 Ks in the start prior to that. He still is giving up a lot of hits but when he is striking batters out he can still be a valuable fantasy asset. Pitching is pretty weak in this 6 game evening slate so with Archer coming off two performances of 18.7 FPTS and 23.3 FPTS to face the Angels I have no issues paying this price.
Brad Keller ($7,500) vs Cardinals– Tonight’s Royals SP Brad Keller slipped up a bit in his last start but prior to that he had gone 3 straight games pitching 7 innings and in fantasy he had gone 4 out of 5 with 20+ FPTS. We love pitchers who can go deep into games and Keller is that guy. He won’t strikeout 10 guys but he can get 5+ and if he is able to go 7 innings that is a win for fantasy owners. Aside from scoring 11 runs on Sunday, the Cardinals offense hasn’t been outstanding so I expect Keller to have it going tonight at home.
Top Hitters
Ozzie Albies ($5,200) vs Mets– Albies has been swinging a hot bat for the Braves as his average is now near the .300 mark over the whole season. Coming into tonight’s game he is 16 for his last 32 with 9 R 3 HR 6 RBI and a stolen base. It’s hard to deny those numbers and with his speed he can rack up lots of points if he gets on the base path with a hit scored run and even a stolen base. His price has gone up, which was to be expected, but I am still comfortable paying it vs a pitcher in Matz who has allowed his fair amount of hits lately.
Kris Bryant ($4,500) vs Phillies– The hype of Kris Bryant has been quiet this year but he has been playing some solid baseball with an almost .300 average 23 HRs and 58 RBIs. He comes into this game playing some good baseball with 2 HR and 7 RBIs in his last 7 games. He hasn’t seen Phillies SP Aaron Nola a lot but he has done decent posting a .286 average with a double and a walk in 9 career PAs. Look for Bryant to put together a solid night at the plate tonight.
Jean Segura ($3,900) vs Cubs– For Jean Segura standards, he has had a pretty down year but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a fantasy asset. He has 3 hits in his last 2 games and at least 1 hit in 3 of his last 4 coming into this contest. He also has seen the ball pretty well vs tonight’s Cubs SP Cole Hamels, .320 with a walk in 26 career PAs. I expect Segura to exceed his value at this sub $4,000 price tonight.
Starlin Castro ($3,500) vs Dodgers–Castro has been red hot for the Marlins as of late with 4 multi-hit games in his last 6 games coming into tonight. And in the last 5 games he has put together 5 R 2 HR and 8 RBIs for a struggling Marlins team. He will have a tough matchup against Clayton Kershaw tonight, who he has struggled against in his career, but because of that he is dirt cheap tonight. For a guy hitting this well I am willing to take a chance on him here at the 2B position.
