Top Pitchers
Trevor Williams ($7,200) vs Mets– Trevor Williams really struggled coming off his injury earlier this year but it looks like he has turned it around and put up some quality starts. In his last two starts he owns a 3.00 ERA with 14 Ks across 12 innings of work. This will be his second start in a row against the Mets in in that last game he went 7 innings and struck out 7 while allowing 4 hits and 3 ERs. The K numbers have been there which is a plus and if he is able to work deep he will easily reach his value here at only $7,200 tonight in his home ballpark.
Jason Vargas ($7,400) vs White Sox– Former Mets pitcher Jason Vargas will be making his debut tonight for the Phillies in a home matchup against the White Sox. Vargas doesn’t throw hard but he has been able to get people out and limit damage all season long. In his last 3 starts he has held batters to a .185 batting average and has struck out 17 batters in 17.2 innings. The White Sox offense hasn’t scored more than 3 runs in 8 of their last 9 games so I am betting on their struggles to continue as Vargas takes the hill tonight in Philly.

Freddie Freeman ($5,000) vs Reds– Freeman continues to mash and with a home run last night and his average still being above the .300 mark makes me feel comfortable paying this price tonight. Not only has Freeman been playing well but he has had a lot of success vs Reds SP Alex Wood. In 17 career PAs Freeman is hitting .438 with 2 home runs and a walk against the left hander. Wood has just returned from the IL and after giving up 7 hits in only 4.2 vs the Rockies I think Freeman will be able to get to him tonight.
J.D. Martinez ($4,800) vs Yankees– Martinez comes into tonight’s game having got on base in 12 of his last 13 games and he has multiple hits in 7 of those contests. He is an elite hitter and in the middle of this potent Red Sox lineup he is a threat to explode for 20+ FPTS on any given night. He is going up against James Paxton tonight who he is hitting .462 off of with one 2B, one 3B, and one HR against in 13 career ABs. Playing at Yankee Stadium should also give him a boost tonight and I think he will finish the day with a homer.
Domingo Santana ($4,000) vs Astros– Domingo Santana has quietly put together a really nice season thus far. He comes into tonight’s game with 21 HRs and 67 RBIs on the season. He is riding a 3 game hit streak and has homered in 2 of his last 3 and should be looking forward to his matchup against Wade Miley tonight. Although Wade Miley has been superb this year Santana has gotten to him by hitting .714 with 2 BBs in 9 career PAs. While there isn’t a lot of history I think taking a shot on Santana at this price and with the way he is hitting is well worth it.
Tyler Flowers ($3,200) vs Reds– Tyler Flowers isn’t the everyday catcher so it will be important to keep an eye on the lineups for this one but I think Flowers is worth taking a shot if you are wanting to save some salary at the catcher position. He went 2/4 in his last game and in 15 career PAs vs Alex Wood, Flowers is hitting .667 with two 2Bs and three BBs. He won’t do anything “sexy” but even if he can do a little he will be a valuable investment at $3,200.
