Point Guard
Patrick Beverley ($4,700) vs Mavericks– Beverley isn’t going to give you much on most nights but he is a big time defensive player and in this slate with only two games you are looking for some cheap guys who can give you value you wouldn’t expect. He is averaging almost 30 FPPG in his last 4 games and as the starting point guard he plays tons of minutes for a guy at this price. The Mavs have beat up on a lot of bad teams recently so we don’t quite know what they are made of but I expect Beverley to be all over the floor and locking up some of the Mavs guards. It isn’t the sexiest pick but it’ll work tonight.
Shooting Guard
Bradley Beal ($9,300) vs Nuggets– Bradley Beal has surprisingly been at the head of an offense that ranks as one of the best in all of the NBA. The Wizards paly no defense at all but they get up and down the floor at score at will. Beal is averaging 32.2 PPG 8.4 APG and 4.2 RPG on 54% shooting in his last 5 games and is one of the best players in all of the NBA. Don’t get me wrong the defense for the Nuggets is good but given what we have seen from this Wizards offense it is hard to see them being slowed down at all. Even if he is less efficient tonight I think Beal will easily be valuable at this price point.
Small Forward
Davis Bertans ($5,200) vs Nuggets– One of the key players in the Wizards offense is Davis Bertans who is in his first year with the team after being on the Spurs last season. Bertans is one of the best 3 point shooters in the league and he is showing why. In the last 5 games he is shooting 45% from behind the arc with 19 threes. He doesn’t take many shots inside the 3 point line and that is good for fantasy owners. With at least 4 makes in each of his last 4 games I have no problems putting the European in my lineup vs the Nuggets tonight.
Power Forward
Paul George ($8,200) vs Mavericks– George has been great since returning to the Clippers lineup a week or so ago averaging 25 PPG 6.3 RPG and 4.7 APG. He is also contributing on the defensive end of the floor which we all like. I expect the Clippers to be at full strength which limits George’s upside but it is still very high in my opinion. The Mavs have struggled to guard the forward position this season, 22nd in DK this season, and they have yet to see a player as dynamic as George so he should be able to take full advantage. This price feels like a steal in a 2 game slate.
Center
Montrezl Harrell ($6,700) vs Mavericks– Despite still coming off the bench on most night’s Harrell has been scoring at will and his rebounding has seen an increase which is great. In the last 6 games Harrell has put up 20.2 PPG 8.0 RPG and 3.3 APG which has been good for 40.3 fantasy points a night. Besides Porzingis the Mavs are very weak defensively at the center position and given the physicality and offensive skill of Harrell this could mean he is in for a big night. The ownership will likely be high here but I think this is a guy you can’t afford to miss out on tonight on the road.
Sleeper Play
Jerami Grant ($3,700) vs Wizards– Grant has been up and down in his first year with the Nuggets but I think this is a great spot for the forward. He is averaging 18.5 FPPG in his last 5 games but will get to go up against the Wizards who own one of the worst defenses in all of the league tonight at home. They are allowing the 4th most fantasy points to PF/C’s this season on DK and given the versatility of Grant he should be able to take advantage of the youth and inexperience on the Wizards side of the ball. He is dirt cheap tonight and if you are looking to roster some of the big named guys, Grant is someone I would look for as a low cost utility or F option tonight.
