DraftKings MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 10/23/20

With only 1 game on the MLB slate we are only able to play “Showdown Captain Mode” where you select one player who cost 1.5x their regular salary but they get you 1.5x the FPTS.

“Captain”

Walker Buehler ($15,600) vs Rays- Buehler hasn’t been able to go deep into games lately due to his blister injury, but he did go 6 innings in his last start and has thrown near 100 in each of the last 3 starts. He has no history vs the Rays this season but he hasn’t given up more than 1 run in each of his last 3 starts and is a very good strikeout pitcher. His price as my “captain” is pretty steep at $15,600 but coming off an outing where he put up 25.3 FPTS I think it will be worth it at the end.

Standard Plays

Brandon Lowe ($8,600) vs Dodgers- Lowe has been struggling for most of the postseason but he broke out in a big way on Wednesday night hitting 2 homers with 3 RBIs on the day. This performance was good for 30 FPTS and even though that shouldn’t be expected today, the hope is that this breaks him out of his slump. Lowe hit 17 HRs this season and even though he will be up against Walker Buehler, the Dodgers bullpen has looked like it is gettable at times.

Ji-Man Choi ($7,400) vs Dodgers- Choi is one of the most likeable players in baseball and he has been playing very well over the last 10 games. In those 10 games he is hitting .333 with a .419 OBP with 9 hits. Choi hasn’t shown tremendous power but he gets on base and with only 1 game on the slate any points is good for us. I like Choi vs a righty starter tonight.

Chris Taylor ($7,000) vs Rays- Chris Taylor is another guy who had been in a slump but has broken out as of late. He has at least 1 hit in 5 of the last 6 games and has scored no less than 7 FPTS in each of the last 4 games. He has been even better in the last 2 games scoring a total of 26 FPTS. Charlie Morton is a tough matchup for any hitter but at this price we just have to ride the Chris Taylor train and hope that he continues his hot hitting.

Kike Hernandez ($5,000) vs Rays- Kike doesn’t start a lot of games vs right handed pitching but he has bene making frequent appearances as a pinch hitter in the middle innings. He has scored 23 FPTS total in the last 3 games despite his lack of ABs which is encouraging. Kike seems to show up when it matters most and at this price it is worth a shot
