Top Pitchers-
Blake Snell ($11,300) vs Blue Jays– Snell is starting to once again look like the pitcher we saw dominant opponents every 5 nights last season for the Rays. Since allowing 7 ER in a start 4 games ago Snell has only allowed 4 runs total in the starts after that and comes into tonight’s contest with a 1.42 ERA in the last two. The Blue Jays don’t have the scariest lineup and in Snell’s last game vs them back on April 13th he pitched 6 innings only allowing 1 hit with 9 Ks. Snell is an elite pitcher so at this price I am willing to pay for his consistency.
Robbie Ray ($8,200) vs Rockies– While it’s scary picking a pitcher who will be pitching in Coors Field I think Ray has enough strikeout ability to make him valuable even if he gives up a couple runs in Colorado’s hitter friendly park. Ray has 21 Ks in his last 14 innings and in his last trip to Colorado on 5/3 he was able to go 5.2 innings and struck out 7 batters in what ultimately led to a Arizona win. Ray is pitching well enough and is avoiding the big blowup games for me to feel confident rostering him tonight vs a divisional opponent.
Top Hitters-
Austin Meadows ($5,600) vs Blue Jays– Austin Meadows continues to be unbelievably good for the Rays even after his injury that forced him to miss a little bit of time. He has 3 homers in his last 3 games and has racked up 9 hits in that time. He will also get to go up against Blue Jays SP Trent Thornton tonight and despite only having 3 plate appearances vs him Meadows has 2 homers and a walk in their history. Meadows is quickly turning into one of the most elite hitters in the game so I have no problems laying this price for him tonight vs a pitcher he has seen previously.
Starlin Castro ($2,500) vs Giants– Starlin Castro started off the season really slow but slowly but surely he is getting his bat going with a hit in 8 of his last 10 games coming into tonight’s contest. Starlin Castro has had a lot of history vs Madison Bumgarner with 33 ABs and he has been doing well with them hitting .424 against the lefty. Despite his .227 season average I think Castro’s hitting picking up to go along with his play vs Bumgarner is worth a shot in tonight’s contest.
Trea Turner ($4,400) vs Braves– Trea Turner has less than 70 ABs on the season due to injury but he has picked up his hitting lately is coming off of a ¾ performance with a SB in last night’s game. Turner is known for his ability to hit for decent power with elite speed and is a threat to lead the league in stolen bases every year if he wasn’t injured. Against Kevin Gausman tonight, who he is hitting .500 against in 8 Abs I think Turner will start to get it going hitting the ball and produce well in fantasy.
Jorge Soler ($4,400) vs White Sox– Jorge Soler started off the season well for KC but he has since cooled off and looks like a guy who just provides power and not much average in the middle of the lineup. He has 2 homers in his last 7 games and against White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez he is 5/8 with two 2Bs in his career. Soler is a risky play with all of the hitless games he has but if he runs into one he will have value at this price point.
