Mexico vs. South Africa World Cup Match Preview, Picks & Odds for Thursday, June 11, 2026

The 2026 World Cup kicks off in Mexico City with one of three hosting nations getting things started. Mexico will face South Africa to commence the 48-team tournament, from Estadio Banorte. Let’s go through the betting data, trends, insights and odds to figure out some markets to consider attacking for bettors and prediction market traders.

Mexico vs. South Africa World Cup Match Betting Analysis

Let’s start with the host, as Mexico is on a current three-game winning streak while also going unbeaten in its last eight matches across all competitions. Mexico has also won five of six World Cup matches in Mexico City, four of those six matches winning to nil. The BTS has failed to hit in six of eight matches for Mexico, also seeing a 0-0 halftime score in its last five World Cup matches. With that said, Mexico has seen two or more goals scored during the second half in five of six World Cup matches. Mexico has also seen the Under hit in six of eight matches.

Moving to South Africa, they have seen a draw in three of four matches while failing to win its last five overall. While Mexico sees many trends suggesting the BTS to fail, South Africa presents an opposite case with a BTS hitting in five of six matches. South Africa has also scored at least one goal in four of five matches along with a very impressive nine of 11 matches overall. The Under has hit in three of four matches for South Africa.

Based on the data, a case could be made for either BTS market hitting but the BTS to fail is very expensive. Also, Mexico to win outright also seems safe but is too very expensive. What about the total? The Under seems to be the play, but again, is expensive. It seems, based on trends and odds, Mexico winning to nil with Under 2.5 total goals the likely result but it is priced way too highly. We’ll side with South Africa’s trend of finding the net at least once.
