Point Guard
Derrick Rose ($6,400) vs Cavaliers– Derrick Rose continues to be a force off the bench for a Pistons team that is lacking offense at some times. He comes into this game averaging 20.5 PPG and 4.5 APG while shooting 42% from behind the arc in his last 6 games and will be up against a Cleveland team that is having its own issues at the moment. Morale is down for them and it looks like a lot of movement could happen with that roster in the upcoming weeks or days. Rose is just too consistent off the bench here to pass up vs this kind of team and we know he will get his shots up night in and night out.
Shooting Guard
Shabazz Napier ($6,100) vs Grizzlies– The Wolves have been decimated with injuries over the last couple weeks which has forced some players to step up and one of those players is point guard Shabazz Napier. Typically a backup guard he has been playing 30+ minutes for the Wolves and has been playing great. He is averaging 16.3 PPG and 6.2 APG and shooting a decent 46% from the field. That is 7 more points than his season average and 2 more assists as well. The Grizzlies are allowing the 8th most fantasy points to opposing guards this season so I think Napier could be a solid play again tonight with the amount of minutes he has been playing lately.
Small Forward
Dillion Brooks ($4,900) vs Timberwolves– Coming into tonight’s game vs the Timberwolves, Dillon Brooks has been shooting it great with 11 threes made in his last two games alone. He is known primarily as a shooter and won’t do much else fantasy wise but with the way he consistently gets up a lot of FGA’s and primarily deep balls he can be a valuable option at a sub $5,000 price tonight. The Wolves are allowing the 3rd most FPTS to SG/SF’s this year so if you want to take a shot so you can afford a big named player elsewhere I think Brooks is a solid option.
Power Forward
Deandre Ayton ($8,200) vs Kings– Ayton has missed a lot of this season due to suspension but he is back in the starting lineup and has been great. In the last 4 games he has put up 12.8 PPG and 12.8 RPG and in the last 3 games he has scored no less than 41 FPTS. The Kings are average vs post players this season but when the Suns are at full strength, which they are expected to be, they have a pretty good offense and Ayton is one of the key pieces behind Devin Booker. The price has jumped pretty high here but for good reason.
Center
Hassan Whiteside ($8,600) vs Raptors– Another big man I love tonight is Blazers center Hassan Whiteside who has put together some huge rebounding games as of late. He has 18+ boards in 3 of his last 4 games and he has paired that with 17.3 PPG in his last 6 games overall. It’s a contract year for Whiteside so he is playing at his best and I think he is a slightly cheaper version of Drummond tonight. Ibaka is a solid paint defender but with the Raptors banged up the offense could struggle tonight which means more rebound opportunity for Whiteside and he should be able to get a decent amount of shots like he has been doing in recent weeks. Look for him to continue his dominant play.
Sleeper Play
JaVale McGee ($3,900) vs Knicks– McGee only plays around 16 minutes per game but he makes them count with his effort on both sides of the floor. He has averaged 6.6 PPG 4.4 RPG and 2.8 BPG on 63% shooting in the last 5 games and a lot of his value comes from that defensive presence. The Knicks are undersized at the center position and have shot the ball great which means the block numbers could be solid for McGee tonight especially with Julius Randle’s constant drives in the lane. There is risk because he doesn’t score much but at only $3,900 I think he could be worth a shot in this matchup.
