Point Guard
Russell Westbrook ($8,400) vs Thunder– Westbrook will make his return to OKC tonight in a much expected matchup. He sat down last night for rest purposes so he will be a full go and should likely get a lot of opportunity given the circumstances. Westbrook’s play and efficiency has picked up as of late and he comes into this game averaging 24 PPG 5.5 APG and 5.0 RPG on 45.5% from the field in his last two games. Playing next to Harden obviously limits his triple-double ability that we saw in years past but he still fills up the stat sheet and we know that he will want to put on a show for his former team tonight in OKC.
Shooting Guard
Collin Sexton ($5,900) vs Pistons– There has been a lot of drama involving Collin Sexton and the Cavs but Sexton continues to produce at a pretty decent level fantasy wise. He is averaging 22.4 PPG on 46.7% shooting from the field in his last 5 games which is good for around 30 FPPG but he is limited by his lack of passing ability and rebounding. We don’t see a lot of ball movement from the Cavs as a team but Sexton can go out and get his own bucket with ease. The Pistons defense is questionable at best especially given their injuries so I think Sexton should have a solid night tonight.
Small Forward
Bruce Brown ($5,000) vs Cavaliers– With the numerous injuries the Pistons backcourt and team as a whole Bruce Brown has been playing around 30 minutes a game and has run quite a bit of point guard for this squad. He is averaging about 10 5 and 4 in his last 5 games and should be pretty valuable at only $5,000 in a small 4 games NBA slate this evening. Cleveland has no interest in playing defense at the moment and are currently allowing the 5th most fantasy points on DK to opposing guards so Brown is a good under the radar option tonight in my opinion.
Power Forward
Sekou Doumbouya ($5,800) vs Cavaliers– With Blake Griffin getting surgery done to repair his knee rookie Sekou Doumbouya should have a lot of chances and minutes in the next couple of weeks. He’s played no less than 33 minutes in the last 3 games and in the 4 games where he has receiving good playing time he has scored double digits in all of those games and grabbed double digit rebounds in 2 of them. Drummond will obviously handle the glass but at the PF position he has shown to provide some versatility which the Pistons have been lacking. Kevin Love isn’t much of a defender so the young rookie will be able to continue to improve in this one tonight.
Center
Hassan Whiteside ($8,600) vs Timberwolves– Whiteside has been great to me all year and I don’t plan on jumping ship anytime soon. We had him in his last game vs the Raptors and he didn’t disappoint putting up 14 PTS 16 REB 4 AST and 7 BLKs which was good for 54.5 FPTS. We shouldn’t expect 7 blocks a night but he is a very good defender and hasn’t had less than 2 blocks in his last 6 games. The Wolves could be down Towns again which will only help as well. Whiteside has been a force and if you just look at the numbers you will see the consistency and high level of play is too hard to pass up tonight.
Sleeper Play
Eric Gordon ($4,100) vs Thunder– Eric Gordon returned from a long absence recently and has been a welcome addition to a potent Rockets offense. In 3 games since returning Gordon has scored 12, 17, and 17 points and continues to let it fly early and often from behind the 3 point arc. He won’t do much other than score but in this offense there is a ton of shooting and he should be worth it at this $4,100 price. There will be a lot of jump shots to go around and even if Gordon isn’t that efficient he will get it up enough to be of value tonight in OKC.
