Point Guard
Jalen Brunson ($5,500) vs Bucks– Mavs star Luka Doncic went down early with an injury in their last game and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. Stepping up in that game was PG Jalen Brunson who played 34 minutes and put up a very good stat line with 18 PTS 8 AST and 7 REB. He has been solid as a complimentary piece to this point in the season and with this increased opportunity I think we could see a lot of Mavericks players step up but the big one I think will be Brunson tonight vs the Bucks.
Shooting Guard
James Harden ($12,900) vs Spurs– Harden has been borderline unstoppable so far this season and still not enough people are talking about him. In the last 6 games he is averaging 38.7 PPG 6.5 APG and 5.2 RPG while shooting 42.3% from behind the arc. His price is very very very high tonight but I can’t risk missing out on that type of production. He has scored at least 80 FPTS in 2 of the last 3 games and in their last game he had a “off” night and still put up 59 FPTS. The Spurs defense has struggled to stop anyone so far this season and I don’t think they are going to start with the Rockets tonight on the road.
Small Forward
Carmelo Anthony ($6,000) vs Suns– Despite not being on a team for almost a year Carmelo Anthony has stepped right into the Blazers starting lineup and produced. He comes into this one averaging 15 PPG and 6 RPG in the last 4 games while shooting 41% from behind the arc. He has had a couple rough games FG% wise but I wouldn’t worry about that too much because he gets enough shots so it won’t be an issue fantasy wise. He had 40 FPTS in their last game vs a good Denver defense and against the Suns I think he should be able to keep that going.
Power Forward
Kelly Oubre Jr. ($7,000) vs Trail Blazers– Kelly Oubre continues to thrive in this fast paced Suns offense over the last 1.5 seasons or so. He is putting up 17.4 PPG and 6.3 RPG this season and has provided some much needed help on both sides of the floor. In the last 5 games he has averaged 9 rebounds and 2 blocks to go along with his scoring as well. The Blazers are a middle tier defensive team but with Ricky Rubio in the lineup he can get Oubre a lot more open shots with his passing ability which I really like. Oubre is a bit pricey tonight but I think he could pay off.
Center
Brandon Clarke ($5,100) vs Heat– Grizzlies rookie Brandon Clarke has come back with injury and played some really good basketball. In his 2 games since returning he has put up 20 PPG and 5.5 RPG while shooting a superb 16/20 from the field. Clarke was knocked for his size in the pre-draft process but he has shown the ability to overcome that and still put up numbers. The Heat have struggled on the defensive end against opposing big men ranking 26th on DK so I think Clarke will be able to take advantage of that vulnerability.
Sleeper Play
Tyus Jones ($4,000) vs Heat– Jones has had a bit of a rocky start with his new team to this point in the season but it looks like he is starting to turn the corner. He is averaging 7.0 PPG and 6.4 RPG while shooting 55.6% in his last 5 games and the key thing I like here is his passing ability. He has had at least 7 assists in 4 of his last 5 games and even though he is not scoring a lot of points that doesn’t mean he isn’t providing fantasy value. He has 23+ FPTS in all of those games and while that isn’t a lot there could be some value at this price, especially if his points increase even a little bit. If you need a cheap utility guard take a look at Tyus Jones vs the Heat who just let Jalen Brunson put up big numbers on them.
