Top Pitchers
Zack Greinke ($9,000) vs Rockies– Greinke continues to dominate opposing batters with location and inducing weak contact this season. As the years go by his velocity is dropped but his location has been so good he has not only been able to survive but he has been one of the best pitchers in the game. He is comes into tonight’s matchup with 13.1 scoreless innings in a row and will face a familiar opponent in the Rockies tonight. The Rockies bats have been hot but Greinke has done well vs them before throwing 6 innings of 1 run ball in their last meeting @ Colorado. Coming off of a very strong 2 games getting Greinke at this price is a no brainer for me.
Trevor Williams ($7,400) vs Tigers– Pirates SP Trevor Williams will be making his return from the IL tonight to take on the Tigers. When healthy Williams has arguably been the Pirates best and most consistent SP. Before going on the IL Williams had 2 starts in a row only allowing 1 ER and only walking 1 batter in each. The Tigers are a lower tier MLB quality lineup so this should be an opportunity where he can get back in a rhythm and put together a solid performance. Also, he is only priced at $7,400 tonight so the value will be there.
Top Hitters
Ozzie Albies ($5,000) vs Mets– Albies has been swinging a hot bat lately for the Braves and he comes into tonight’s contest with 12 hits in his last 7 games with 6 R and 10 RBI’s. The Braves offense as a whole is getting hot with Freeman and Albies leading the charge. This is leading to more runs and FPTS opportunity for owners. With Albies hitting it this well I have no issues investing the $5,000 in him vs Matz who has been up and down all year.
David Peralta ($4,400) vs Rockies– David Peralta had been struggling with the bat but he now has hits in 2 straight starts and will go up against Rockies SP Jon Gray who he has a lot of history against in his career. In 20 career ABs Peralta is hitting .500 against the starter and in Gray’s last two starts he has given up a total of 17 hits. Earlier in the year Peralta was giving us a lot of production, which has since cooled off, but I still value Peralta as a hitter. Against someone who he has had this much success against I think $4,400 is a steal.
Eloy Jimenez ($4,100) vs Cubs– Highly touted rookie Eloy Jimenez is starting to get his bat hot after a bit of a rough patch adjusting to major league pitching. He has had multiple hits in 3 of his last 4 games which has included 3 HRs and 8 RBI’s. It has also extended beyond that with his 6 HRs and 13 RBI’s in the last 9 games overall. Tonight’s Cubs SP Jon Lester has really struggled getting batters out as of late and this could be a great combo for Eloy tonight. I think Eloy has major boom potential tonight against the team that traded him.
Buster Posey ($3,100) vs Dodgers– Buster Posey has had a pretty down year with lackluster power numbers and not much production from a RBI standpoint. However he is still a capable hitter who can knock the ball around the diamond. He is dirt cheap tonight and will be going up against Rich Hill whom he is hitting .474 against in 19 career ABs. Looking for a catcher is always tough but it could be a good way to save some salary cap. I believe this is one of those cases tonight and Posey could have some sneaky value here. Make sure to check the lineup before the game as Posey has been sitting as they ease him back from a hamstring strain.
