Quarterbacks
Deshaun Watson ($7,700) vs Titans- Watson has lost a lot of his weapons this season but he has still been able to produce at a very high level. Against the Bengals last week Watson was able to throw for 324 yards with 3 TDs, and this was his 5th game in the last 6 where he threw for over 300 yards. He comes into this game a little banged up but he is expected to play against a Titans defense that has had trouble stopping anyone throughout the season. With the way we saw the Texans defense play last week, this could turn into a classic week 17 shootout.
Philip Rivers ($6,000) vs Jaguars- Rivers threw his first INT since Week 12 last week vs the Steelers but overall he has been very solid for the Colts. He has scored 17 FPTS in 6 of the last 7 weeks and the Colts will be looking for a big win on Sunday afternoon. The Jaguars are allowing 277 yards passing this season, which ranks 27th in the NFL. Rivers won’t give you 30+ FPTS type games but he has been solid and should be again this week.
Running Backs
Dalvin Cook ($9,200) vs Lions- Dalvin Cook had an “off” game by his standards last week only rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown in a big loss against the Saints. The game script didn’t fit running the ball much and I believe it will be much different vs a poor Lions team this week. The Lions are allowing 135 yards on the ground this season and Cook is arguably the best pure rusher in the NFL. It shouldn’t be hard to plug Dalvin Cook in your week 17 lineup.
Melvin Gordon III ($5,700) vs Raiders- Melvin Gordon didn’t find the endzone last week but he still rushed for almost 5 YPC. The Broncos are going to be without Phillip Lindsay so the backfield is Melvin Gordon’s and he should get plenty of looks this week. When the Broncos offense is clicking, Gordon usually finds the endzone and with the way the Raiders defense has been playing, there should be plenty of opportunities for scoring.
Wide Receivers
Mike Evans ($7,500) vs Falcons- Mike Evans has had a solid year for the Bucs and he has been even better in his last 4 games. He has scored 20+ FPTS in 3 of the last 3 games and is coming off of a game vs the Lions where he caught 10 or 12 targets for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns. He will be up against the Falcons, who are allowing the 2nd most passing yards per game in the NFL this season. Evans is a major TD threat and in a game with a lot of scoring, I want to have him in my lineup.
Keke Coutee ($5,600) vs Titans- Keke is one of the few remaining healthy options for Deshaun Watson and the Texans offense. He has scored double-digit FPTS in each of the last 4 games and has been getting some pretty consistent targets. The Titans have had trouble stopping anybody in the passing game so at this price I think it is very doable to find a spot for him in your lineup this week.
Tight End
Irv Smith Jr. ($3,900) vs Lions- Irv Smith Jr. has quietly become one of the better TEs in DFS because he is always a reasonable price and seems to have a very good connection with Vikings QB Kirk Cousins. He is coming off of a game where he had 6 catches on 9 targets for 53 yards along with 2 TDs. He now has 3 TDs in the last 3 games for Minnesota and is one of their most reliable red-zone threats. At under $4,000 Irv Smith Jr. offers some of the best value on the slate.
Defense
Indianapolis Colts D/ST ($3,900) vs Jaguars- The Colts defense had some issues in the 2nd half last week against the Steelers but other than that they have been one of the better defenses in fantasy. In 3 of the last 4 weeks, they have scored double-digit points and in 2 of those games, they recorded 5 sacks. The Jaguars offense leaves a lot to be desired and with their issues, at QB the Colts should have no problems holding their offense down on Sunday afternoon in Indy.
