NFL Sacks Leaders 2025

We have seen a lot of individual defensive performances over the years, and sacks are such an important stat because they occur more often than interceptions and fumbles. Sack totals showcase the best pass rushers in the game and how they have an effect on their team’s overall defense. With the league becoming more pass happy in the modern era, getting pressure on a quarterback is important. This page shows not just which players are generating the most sacks, but also who is pressuring the quarterback the most. QB pressures are important as, although they didn't record a sack, they successfully disrupted the opposing offense. This page allows you to toggle stats around and see who is leading the league or conference in sacks. As we get deeper into the season, you can see who is making an impact by sacks per game. Once the playoffs hit, swap over tabs and see who is dominating the postseason with their pass rush.

How To Read Sack Leaders Page

Every week, the rankings on this page will likely change as we are ranking defensive players solely on sacks. You can use tabs to narrow down between the overall NFL, AFC, and NFC. The slider helps you pinpoint who has the most sacks within a certain span of weeks. You can organize stats by the second half of the season or the last three weeks. The Lineups Rating will is visible next to the player to show their overall rating from a formula we have created based on defensive stats.

Getting into totals and per game numbers, you can see the splits between home and away. A player might have a noticeable difference in sacks at home compared to on the road.

QB pressures, forced fumbles, and safeties are also included here. QB pressures are much more frequent, although certain players have a knack for forcing turnovers more frequently than others. Safeties are rare in the NFL, although the table shows which players are responsible for the most forced safeties. QB pressures can have an impact on the play without showing up in the box score as a sack.

What Makes A Good Pass Rusher?

Each pass rusher has unique strengths and weaknesses. Awareness is a crucial factor for a pass rusher. There is always a lot going on each play and pre-snap. Pass rushers that can get off the line and read snap counts will have a slight edge, although that's just a small piece of the puzzle.

Reading offensive lineman is also crucial for a pass rusher. After assessing the offensive lineman, they'll still need to find the ball and read the play. Whether that is a play action, a run, or a drop back pass, the pass rushed will want to get to the ball. Getting past the blocker is only the first step, and it doesn’t do much good if you don’t know where the ball is after that.

Having multiple pass rushing techniques is important because if you're a one dimensional pass rusher, an offense will likely be able to figure you out. You also won't be able to beat every offensive lineman with one or two moves. The best pass rushers are able to beat you inside or out, bull rush you, or simply beat you right off the line.

After all is said and done, a successful pass rusher needs to apply pressure and bring down the quarterback. Speed, physicality, strength, and size are all vital for players in this position.

IDP Fantasy Football & Sacks

Individual sacks can be a big factor in IDP fantasy football leagues, where overall team sacks are important for non-IDP fantasy leagues. Scoring systems are going to dictate how much a sack is worth. If a sack is worth the amount of a tackle, they won't matter as much for fantasy purposes. But if sacks are worth much more than tackles, sack production will generate more fantasy points.

When analyzing which players will be responsible for the most sacks, there are a few important factors to look at. The first is going to be a defensive scheme. A 4-3 or 3-4 system is going to change the way players get sacks. Defensive ends have more fantasy value than defensive tackles, although there are a few star players that beg to differ. For the most part, defensive ends are going to record the majority of a team's sacks. Defensive ends will benefit from a 4-3 system because there are four lineman to protect against instead of three for the opposing offensive lines. A linebacker in a 3-4 system might have more chances at sacks if they are used as an edge rusher and listed as a linebacker.

Although linebackers and defensive lineman are responsible for the most sacks, other players can contribute as well. Some defensive backs will play closer to the line and nab a few extra sacks. Depending on how your IDP league is set up, you might just have an open spot that doesn't focus on a specific position.

When it comes to defensive stats, sacks are one of the most important factors. A team generating the most sacks will limit the opponent's offense, increasing their chance of victory. Many sports bettors will want to use this information, whether it's for betting on individual sack props or a quarterback's passing totals.

Both sports betting and online casinos are becoming more widely available in the U.S. The Garden State has become an excellent area for bettors, with the availability of both New Jersey online casinos and New Jersey sports betting apps. Bettors need to be at least 21 years old to place any bets in the state.
