Point Guard
Ja Morant ($6,700) vs Warriors– Ja Morant has been spectacular in his first season averaging 18.4 PPG 3.3 RPG and 6.0 APG and has put together some dazzling highlight plays. He will be up against a banged up Warriors team tonight that hasn’t been able to get much done on the defensive end and they lack a real defensive big man so Morant will be able to drive to the basket at will. He doesn’t shoot it a lot but the deep ball for him is falling at a 42% clip so if Morant gets in a groove tonight we could see some big numbers in this home game.
Shooting Guard
Rodney Hood ($4,800) vs Pelicans– Hood hasn’t been very consistent but he has been starting for the Blazers and playing over 30 minutes per game. He can score in bunches but last night he only scored 5 points after two great nights of 25 PTS and 16 PTS. I am expecting a bounce back performance tonight vs a Pelicans team that will be severely undermanned with a number of injuries. There is some scary downside here but the upside is too much for me to pass up at this price point with only 4 games on the slate.
Small Forward
Buddy Hield ($7,500) vs Suns– The Kings have also been hurt with injuries, De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley, so they are having to find some other scoring options and have people step up their level of play. One of those guys is Buddy Hield who is averaging 24.5 PPG 5.8 RPG while shooting 40% from behind the arc in his last 4 games. He is coming off a game where he scored 57.5 FPTS and will be facing a Suns team that is on the 2nd game of a back to back. Defense will be lacking in this game and Hield will be one of the beneficiaries of that. Look for Hield to let it fly to keep up with the Suns offense tonight.
Power Forward
Danilo Gallinari ($6,500) vs Lakers– A lot of people didn’t account Danilo Gallinari going to the Thunder in the big Paul George offseason trade but when he is healthy Gallo is a very capable option at the forward spot. He comes into this one averaging around 20 PPG and 5 RPG in the last 5 games while shooting a superb percentage from behind the arc. He gets up a lot of shots and with CP3 playing at a high level also that should open some things up for even more open 3 point shots. I am expecting a 30+ point fantasy performance from Gallo tonight vs the Lakers.
Center
Hassan Whiteside ($6,300) vs Pelicans– Whiteside is one of my favorite plays with the Pelicans down Derrick Favors and Jahlil Okafor out. He will most likely be up against rookie Jaxson Hayes and that is guy Whiteside will have a big size advantage on weight wise. Whiteside is a veteran player who is averaging 15.3 PPG and 12.2 RPG on the season and has shown that he can be dominant on the boards in his career. Whiteside is shooting at a high percentage on the season and in his last 6 games he has averaged 2.3 blocks per game in his last 6 games. They matchup here vs the inexperienced rookie is just too enticing for me to pass up here.
Sleeper Play
Nassir Little ($3,500) vs Pelicans– Another player that has benefited from increased playing time is rookie Nassir Little. He is averaging 7.6 PPG 6.6 RPG in his last 3 games and has played at or near 30 minutes in all 3 contests. His shot still needs work but he is still able to get inside and get some easy points. The rebounds is an encouraging sign for his fantasy value as he gets more and more comfortable on the court. He has started in the last two games and received 30+ minutes and getting a guy who plays that often and is active on the glass at this price is a steal in my opinion.
