DraftKings NFL Daily Fantasy Cash Game Picks Week 5

Quarterbacks

Kyler Murray ($6,300) vs BengalsThe Cardinals have yet to win a game but Kyler Murray continues to throw the ball a lot and even snuck in a rushing touchdown last week. He will be up against the Bengals this week, who may be one of the few teams that are worse than the Cardinals right now. They are 25th against opposing fantasy QBs on DraftKings this year and with Kyler hovering around 20 FPTS vs defenses that are much better than the Bengals I think he could put together a very good week.

Philip Rivers ($5,800) vs BroncosDespite the numerous injuries for the Chargers, QB Philip Rivers has been one of the most consistent passers in the NFL this season. In 3 of the 4 games this season Rivers has had more than 23 FPTS and he hasn’t thrown an interception in his last 2 games. He will get Melvin Gordon back in the lineup to go along with Ekeler and Keenan Allen which will only help. They may run it a bit more with Melvin back but they are so electric out of the backfield on passes that Rivers could dump it off every time and still put up a very good performance. The Broncos have a decent pass defense but just lost Bradley Chubb on their defensive line and with the Chargers offensive line problems this could help Rivers big time.

Running Backs

David Johnson ($7,500) vs BengalsDavid Johnson hasn’t been running for a lot of yards this season but he has been doing enough catching the ball out of the back field to make him worthy of a DFS pick. He has scored 18.5 FPTS or more in 3 of 4 games this season and last week he was targeted a season high 11 times. The Cardinals are really weak on the offensive line so to get Johnson the ball Arizona has started to use him in a Ekeler/Melvin Gordon type role with lots of short yardage looks to get him in space. The Bengals were torched in the passing game by James Conner on Monday night so I think Johnson can do the same for Arizona.

Joe Mixon ($6,100) vs CardinalsAfter a really slow start Mixon has scored double digit FPTS in two straight games and tied his season high in targets with 5 last week. The problem for Mixon is that the Bengals fall so far behind they have to abandon the run but against the Cardinals this week I think it will be more competitive. He has averaged 4 YPC on 15 carries in the last two games and the Cardinals defense isn’t one that is going to scare anybody away from this pick. Mixon showed last year that he can be one of the best RBs in the league when healthy and it looks like he is starting to get it going.

Ronald Jones II ($4,600) vs SaintsRonald Jones rushed for 70 yards on 19 carries against the Rams last week and it should have been even better if he didn’t have 2 long runs called back due to penalties. After a disappointing rookie season it looks like Jones is looking like he was supposed to coming out of college. Jones has rushed for 70+ yards in 3 out of 4 games and found the endzone for the first time last week. It looks like he is gaining control of the backfield over Peyton Barber and it is only a matter of time before he gets 15+ consistent touches. The Saints defense is very good but I like Ronald Jones’s big play ability at this price.

Wide Receivers

Julian Edelman ($6,300) vs RedskinsThe entire Patriots passing offense was slowed last week vs a good Bills defense but it will be the opposite against the Redskins this week. The Redskins have allowed the 2nd most FPTS to opposing WRs this season and I expect Edelman to be back at full strength from his rib injury he suffered in week 3. Edelman is the top pass catching threat on the Patriots and in only 1 half vs the Jets he caught 7 of 10 targets for 62 yards and a TD. He won’t get tons of yardage but without Gronk he could be in line for more TDs on top of his very high target/reception share in this offense.

Allen Robinson II ($5,600) vs RaidersOn Sunday we learned that the drop off from Mitch Trubisky and Chase Daniel isn’t a lot and Allen Robinson will still get his targets no matter who is the QB on Sunday. He caught 7 of 7 targets last week for 77 yards vs a solid Vikings defense and should be able to get even more vs a porous Raiders secondary. He hasn’t had less than 7 targets all season and despite not having a TD he has still up some pretty solid fantasy numbers especially for a WR at this price. Also, if there was ever a time for him to get his first TD it is this week against the Raiders.

Geronimo Allison ($5,000) vs CowboysI would have Geronimo Allison in your lineup this week vs the Cowboys if Davante Adams isn’t able to play with his turf toe injury. Allison caught some big passes last Thursday night including a TD pass. He hasn’t produced like a lot of people thought he would this season but this could be the launching pad for him to earn the trust of Rodgers. If he is able to move up to the WR2 role with Adams out he should see a lot of targets behind MVS.

Tight End

Mark Andrews ($4,800) vs SteelersRavens QB Lamar Jackson loves throwing to the tight ends and Andrew is the beneficiary of all those targets. Coming into this Sunday’s game Andrews has 32 targets through 4 games and even though his yardage wasn’t there the past 2 weeks he has still been able to find the endzone 3 times this season. The Steelers defense has given up a lot of yards this season and I wouldn’t let an excellent performance vs the Bengals on Monday night cloud my judgement. Andrews is an elite tight end with Lamar Jackson at QB and he will receive more targets than some of the above average WRs this week.

Defense

New England Patriots D/ST ($4,300) vs RedskinsUsually I don’t like to pay up for defenses but the Patriots defense has just been too good to look past. They are averaging 20 FPTS per game and have only given up 1 defensive TD this season with 10 INTs and 18 sacks. They will be up against the Redskins whose offense has been terrible lately and could be starting Dwayne Haskins at QB who threw some INTs vs the Giants who have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. They are priced high but it is well worth it in the matchup.
