Jimmy Garoppolo went to Eastern Illinois where he averaged over 300 passing yards per game and led the program to be ranked for the first time. He played from 2010 to 2013 and started eight games in his freshman year.
In 2017, the New England Patriots traded Jimmy Garoppolo for a second-round pick. It was a surprise trade around the league, and it was rumored that it caused a rift in the Patriots organization as Bill Belichick viewed him as Brady’s successor.
Being the backup during the New England Super Bowl-winning seasons gives him two rings for his career. Garoppolo almost had a third Super Bowl in 2019 after narrowly losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The New England Patriots have had a knack for drafting small school players, and Jimmy Garoppolo was another one. He was taken 62nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. Garoppolo is one of two current starting quarterbacks from this class.
Jimmy Garoppolo is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. While he was often a backup in New England, Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers to be the starting quarterback. 2019 was his first full year being a starter.
